Church of San Pablo

The Church of San Pablo is located at the Plaza San Pablo and is a Gothic church has the look of a fort, with a facade that is austere. The interior is beautiful with a great main altarpiece and the Renaissance sepulchers of the Poza family. The church was constructed in the 13th century and was reconstructed in the 15th and 16th centuries. The facade was finished in the 18th century. The interior vaults were done in the 16th century. The main altarpiece is attributed to the School of Felipe Vigarny. The church has the tombs of the first Marqueses de Poza, Don Juan de Rojas and Doña Maria Sarmiento, constructed by the sculptor Francisco Giralte. There are other sculptures of the heirs of Don Juan and Doña Maria that were sculpted in the 17th century by Antonio de Riera.
