The medieval village of Warkworth first enters recorded history in 737 when King Ceolwulph granted it to the monastery on the Holy Island of Lindisfarne. Standing guard over the village and beautiful River Coquet is the magnificent 12th century Warkworth Castle, once home to Dukes and Earls of Northumberland.
