About the neighbourhood
Our farm, is located between the towns of Kapa'au and Hawi at the northern tip of the Big Island in North Kohala on the Big Island of Hawaii. Kohala is a mix of the best of 'old' Hawaii and progressive movements such as the community's efforts at food sustainability and conservation practices. Although we are just minutes from shops, restaurants, galleries and other amenities, our property is expansive and secluded. You may choose to hide out in the cottage or wander the surrounding grounds to get away from it all….or if you prefer to be more active: hiking, zip line, horse back riding and ATV adventures are all available in the neighborhood. Either way, the peace and tranquility of cottage will revive your soul. Your hosts will be delighted to make your stay both comfortable and m...
Getting around
Pololu Valley lookout and hike down to black sand beach (swimming not recommended due to strong currents) is a 15 mins. drive to the north. Keokea Beach Park is a lovely place to watch the waves and have a picnic. If you are an early riser the sunrise at Pololu is spectacular. North Kohala is the birthplace of King Kamehameha and has many sites of historical interest. A self guided tour at Lapakahi State Park takes you through an ancient Hawaiian fishing village. There is a great little museum at Spencer Beach Park and be sure to snap a photo at the King Kam statue located across from Kings View Cafe in Kapa'au. Numerous heiaus (a place of worship and or sacrifice) dot the Kohala coast.
