We have just spent a week at a beautiful house with a huge terrace overlooking the beach 30 steps or so and you are on the beach.
The house was very clean and well equipped not forgetting the welcome pack which along with the essentials milk etc scones with jam and cream very nice after a long trip .
I am sure we will be back

Stunning storm stay
I was lucky enough to stay for a long weekend during Storm Ciara and honestly even during the gale force winds and torrential downpour Clifftop cottages was a perfect place to escape too.
I got to see mother nature at its most wild the sky and sea were forever changing colour and it made for some truly stunning sunrises and sunsets, which I was able to view through every window of the cottage with a big glass of something!
The area of Portreath has all you could need, I had a hearty meal at the Bassatt pub and even got chinese delivered during the storm! perfect!
The cottage itself was luxuriously kitted out with everything you could possibly need and more! I had a shower with beautiful bay views and my bed was so comfortable, even through the bad weather I slept like a log.
David and Victoria were perfect hosts and quick to answer any questions I had.
I would love to return again, maybe next time when the weathers a bit less ferocious.

Stunning spot for a holiday
Right from the start it felt right, excellent communication with the owners and plenty of helpful information before we got there. Welcomed in person and lovely selection of treats provided. It's a brilliant spit and the pictures just can't do justice to the views. It was lovely and warm with underfloor heating throughout and fantastic showers. Important to realise it's along a fairly narrow and twisty lane with walls either side but plenty of room to park and turn when you reach the house. I saw a Sainsbury's delivery van there so it is wide enough for SUVs. A brilliant spot. Thank you we really enjoyed our stay

Stunning 5 star property with fabulous views and beach on the doorstep!
A fantastic property with stunning views and easy access to the beach. So much space both inside and out with everything you need for a great holiday. Breakfasts on the terrace were the perfect start to the day.
Our first visit to Portreath, great location for swimming, body boarding, cycling, coastal walks, seal watching and we saw lots of them!!
Big thank you to the owners Victoria and David, very helpful and even had the local contacts to arrange for fresh, locally caught lobster and crab. We enjoyed ourselves so much we’ve already booked for 2020!

A terrific accommodation for a family and friends vacation in Cornwall.
There are many outstanding reviews of this high quality accommodation and mine will be no different but I'll try to supply additional potentially useful information to others considering this rental vacation home.
We had a total of 7-5 adults plus a dog staying during the week that we rented for our family and friends. (Two of our friends did not stay the whole week due to work commitments). It is truly a great location overlooking spectacular scenery. We found it to be a perfect base from which to tour within about an hour to any part of Cornwall. I rented a new Mercedes Vito touring van seating 8 adults comfortably and we made it to Lizard point in the extreme southeast of Cornwall from the accommodation in about 50 minutes passing through Helston on the way.
I have lived in the USA for 37 years and am now used to driving on wide roads and on the right so, initially, it was a challenge for me driving on the narrow streets in some of the Cornwall town centers. Particularly harrowing for me was navigating the one vehicle width walled section of the Battery Hill cliff road just prior to the cottage. I was both proud and relieved to make it through many times back and forth without a scratch on the paintwork. As a precaution, I made sure to fold side view mirrors inward. (My visiting friends who are experienced UK drivers and were travelling in small cars seemingly had no anxiety problem!)
It was a delight to be welcomed by a most friendly neighbor, Nick, acting by arrangement in the stead of owner David. Nick gave us a tour of the cottage when we arrived and also introduced us to the lovely couple David employs to provide a cleaning service. Besides being spotlessly clean as accommodation we were delighted to find a welcoming arrangement of scones, drinks and other treats provided. Communication with David was very good by email considering the time difference between the UK and Seattle, USA. I believe TripAdvisor does not give renter email details to owners and vice versa until they release payment to the owner. I think this may be when the cancellation period expires because I had paid TripAdvisor the full amount about 6 months before my arrival. This delay may introduce a communication concern when dealing with third parties. I was trying to arrange drop off and pick up of a rented mobility scooter for my mother and needed the full postal address of the cottage and to communicate with David about it. However once the payment release was made David was very responsive and we had some pleasant email exchanges on the subject.
I give this vacation home my highest rating and hope you have as good an experience and as good weather as we did.

Dear George,
What a wonderful review to receive, you have truly made the Dean family very happy indeed!
We are so pleased that your family and friends enjoyed your stay with us at Smugglers Cove Cottages and that you have some lovely memories of Cornwall to take back across the Atlantic Ocean!
We think you deserve a prize for navigating Battery Hill with your massive Vito people carrier, it must have been one of the larger vehicles to make the crossing so many times successfully :-)
We do hope we get to meet you again one day and Nick sends his best wishes, he very much enjoyed chatting with you on arrival.
Warmest regards,
The Dean family

The perfect spot perched above the beach
We knew the area and for a long time I had admired the perfect positioning of smuglers cottege with its sweeping views across the beach to the other end of the cove and out to sea but what i wasnt prepared for was the beauty of the cottage interior .
Care has been taken to provide above and beyond normal expectations the interior is beautiful also - Christmas tree , decorations , welcome pack had all been laid out for our arrival.
We had a family christmas here including our Christmas dinner and the kitchen had everything that we needed , it was a christmas full of happy memories loved by all , thank you .

Wow!
This is a real privilege! These were our first thoughts as we walked into Cliff Top Cottage.
The cottage is a wonderful find in terms of self-catering accommodation - and in our view - one of the best we have stayed at. This property is of a five-star standard, finished to a high spec, and the 200ft balcony provides stunning and unrivalled views along the beautiful natural coastline; what a beautiful sight to wake up to each morning.
All the rooms were light, airy, very spacious, and spotlessly clean. Every need clearly thought of for both inside and outside the property, including a hospitality pack which was most welcome after our drive down. Although we had no children with us, we could see there was enough kit to support Mums and Dads with a young family. In addition to the fully equipped kitchen, there is Wi-Fi, an entertainment system, (plus TV’s in each bedroom) lots of spare wellies, wetsuits, sunbeds... and dog beds! This place has something for humans and dogs alike!
One of the greatest benefits is the location and very short walk to the beach. Our dogs were super happy with the direct access, taking less than one minute to reach the sand, waggy tails in sync each morning as they jogged their way down; our group also enjoyed the beautiful walks in the surrounding area.
You just know from the moment you arrive at this property you are going to have a wonderful stay. We were greeted by Shena and asked if we have any issues during our stay, or wanted help of any kind, then to just call; nothing seemed too much trouble. We also met with Alan and Judy and learned of the property’s history, and all the effort and hard work that went into developing Smuggles Cove Cottages – a real testament to their gritty determination, and they were lovely with it!
Without hesitation, we would absolutely recommend this cottage for either a family or romantic getaway.
This is a truly unique place, in a magnificent setting that has created special memories for us, and for that we wish to thank the Dean family for taking the decision to let their property and giving us the opportunity for a magical experience.

Exquisite property with stunning views
We were met by the owner David on arrival. He left us with local beer and cider along with traditional Cornish scones and cream with lots of information about the area. The house is stunning and very well equipped (down to wellingtons for the beach) the views are simply outstanding
We were at the property in November and it was lovely and warm with under floor heating, the floor can be a little slippy for larger dogs, a few mats could soon fix that. I am sure if we mentioned it they would have been there. Nothing was too much trouble. many hours were spent watching the waves and the local surfers mastering them
Would highly recommend this property. We will certainly be back
