About the neighbourhood
There are some large supermarkets in Huntly and in Turriff, both are 20 mins by car. Late night opening for Tesco's in Huntly which is much bigger (and better) than the Tesco's in Turriff. In Huntly there is also a large ASDA and a range of shops, butchery, tea shops, cafes, restaurants, and places of interest around the Shire. Aberdeenshire is the largest Shire in Scotland and is divided into North and South. We are North and only 1.5hrs from Inverness. There is a Railway Station in Huntly, with parking facilities. You can easily drive to there and get the train to Inverness or most places around Scotland. Distilleries are a must to visit and you are spoilt for choice with Speyside not far along the road.
Getting around
It is best to drive due to the rural nature of the location. Country drives are a wonderful experience and the road are good, albeit narrow and no road lights outside of residential settlements. With the coastline only 30 mins north, there is much to see in the Banff, Portsoy, Cullin, and general coastal areas. Lots of walks in the Shire, there is a range of information left at the house and with the free wi-fi you can easily research local places online. The castle route comes around the area, search National Trust Scotland to get the directly of all castles and places to visit.
