Holiday Rental House
Torgorm is situated in the beautiful village of Glenelg. The closest point of the Scottish mainland to the Isle of Skye. Torgorm means blue hill in Gaelic, it is set on a hillside, looking over the sea to Skye and down the sound of seat. The view is stunning and ever changeable. A beautiful place to sit and enjoy the scenery. Torgorm is a comfortable house, with log burning stove so you can sit and enjoy a glass of wine and relax. It is also ideally situated with great walks on the doorstep, forestry tracks for mountain bikers and local fishing either in the sea or in the river. The Glenelg inn is a five minute walk, it has great character good food and frequented by local villagers who are always there to offer advice on things going on locally. Steeped in history Glenelg has many places of interest. The famous Glenelg Brochs are within walking distance and situated at the end of a Roman road and next to a Jacobean castle there is plenty to read up about. Access to Skye is on the oldest and only example of car ferry left in the world, taking you over the narrows to Kylrea where the cattle on Skye once upon a time swam across to the mainland, encouraged by the farmers to get them to market. We have been visiting Torgorm since 2008 and are booked for our 4th trip in August 2018. We first visited just prior to her first renovation which was outstanding, this second renovation looks amazing and we can't wait to see it later this year. If...More

About the neighbourhood
A very rural area with wonderful coastal walks, sea kayaking and a great local inn to relax in the evening. The local scenery is stunning and there is the world famous Glenelg ferry that takes you over to Skye, run by the local community it is the last of its kind in the world.
Getting around
Getting around is best by car but there is a new local bus service that takes you over to Kintail where there is a bus service to Kyle and on to Skye.Cycling is also popular but the hills are steep.
