Villa Fleur de Lys is an 8 bedroom (all ensuite) Villa built in a modern style with multiple indoor and outdoor lounge and dining areas. Perfect for groups of family and friends who want to get away together.
Built as a small boutique hotel away from busier tourist areas in a slightly secluded location along Zanzibar's South East coast, between the villages of Jambiani and Makunduchi, the villa is available to be rented privately, fully staffed.
Enjoy incredible uninterrupted panoramic views over the Indian Ocean from the villa's elevated position with direct access down to our 'private' beach cove via the garden steps.

It just gets better!
A year after staying at the villa with 9 friends, I returned in June 2024 with a smaller group I organized. All three of us immensely enjoyed our stay, and the two of the three of us who went in June 2023 were happy to see the same wonderful staff and that a beautiful property had been further enhanced. The stay, I now know, is just as nice whether your group is large or small. I won't bother to look anywhere else to lodge in Zanzibar, because I can't imagine anywhere being as perfect as Villa Fleur de Lys. Superb management, staff, and chef, plus they can call in hair braiders and masseuses. With all the amenities, you could never leave the property and still have the time of your life. Sunny days, fresh Indian Ocean breezes, and incredible sunsets. I hesitated to write another review because I don't want anyone to book the villa on dates when I want to be there. But it's hard to keep a good thing to yourself, right? I intend to return again and again. (I will add some interior pictures if I'm able to update this review after I locate them.)

A little bit of Paradise!
Our stay at Villa Fleur de Lys was paradise! Beyond remarkable, the staff was most gracious, the meals were incredible.
The Villa manager help our group plan the most exciting outings and was helpful teaching us additional Swahili phrases.
I definitely plan to retuen in the near future!

Best Place To Stay In Zanzibar!
I led a group of 10 U.S. journalists and other professionals on a trip here that was the culmination of 9 months of research and planning. I found Villa Fleur De Lys as I scoured the internet for a place to stay, and immediately felt it was the place to be. And it turned out to be - we loved it! Our villa-arranged driver waited patiently for hours as the last of us arrived at the airport the first night, tired from two days of flying and layovers. But when we got to the villa after 11 p.m. (a little over an hour from the airport), we quickly perked up as walked through majestic open front doors, welcomed by the manager and staff who held trays of chilled fruit juice in the beautifully lit great room with amazing windows and glass doors. What a welcome! A refreshing breeze gently blew through the open, ocean-facing doors as we were taken on a tour of the villa and then sat down to eat delicious food prepared on the spot by the chef. The villa is even more beautiful and impressive than the photos. Inside and outside, it's a jewel at the edge of the Indian Ocean, far enough from the main cities to be private yet close enough to get to all of our planned excursions. For each trip, the villa manager coordinated comfortable group travel for us at very reasonable rates. From management and the kitchen staff to cleaning and security, we had an extremely comfortable stay. All the staff were courteous, professional, and responsive. The grounds were exceptionally nice - it would be easy to spend entire days just sitting around the villa and relaxing in one of the many comfortable indoor or outdoor settings. Complimentary breakfast every morning was nice to experience, particularly the fresh fruit, fluffy eggs, and deliciously brewed coffee. Running individual tabs during our stay and paying up by cash or card at checkout made everything simple. The villa's prices were very reasonable and the meals were hearty, fresh, and flavorful. There was one misunderstanding about the 8th suite, the newest. It is not attached to the villa but is in a separate building just across the driveway, about 50 feet or so away, without ocean or direct garden views. I had thought it was adjacent to the spacious recreation and fitness room on the top floor of the villa. About that rec/fitness room - there are weights, elliptical machines, darts, foosball, ping pong, and a pool table, not to mention seating and tables for eating or card and board games. Villa Fleur De Lys gets a gold star from me. I plan to stay here again when I return and will bring another group to enjoy the experience. It's a great place to book the entire spot for a family reunion, destination wedding, or friends getaway since it can accommodate up to 22 people. The owner, Zoe, and the manager, Baraka, were very helpful as I planned the trip. A final note: The latter part of June is the best time of the year to go to Zanzibar in terms of perfect weather and avoiding the busiest tourist seasons.

Perfect Family vacation
The pics on the website does not do justice to this true gem. From the first minute of our stay to our last, Baraka and his team did everything they could to help make this a truely unforgettable experience for all. Their service and hospitality was excellent. Conditions around the house and inside was always clean. The staff was very friendly at all times.

About the neighbourhood
Makunduchi is a hidden gem, slightly off the beaten track with beautiful beaches not yet over exploited by tourism.
It is still possible to sit and dream, watching the dhow boats drift lazily by and the rhythms of fishermen returning with their daily catch without seeing any of the tourism traffic of other busier locations.
Yet we are conveniently only a 15 min drive from Jambiani village and the popular stretch of East Coast now famous for its Kite Surfing.
There are many good restaurants and activities and nightlife only a short taxi ride away.

We have a 7 seater vehicle available to hire with driver and can arrange taxis wherever and whenever you require.

We are situated on the South East coast between the villages of Makunduchi and Jambiani. We are a 60km drive from Zanzibar's airport. We are happy to arrange airport transfer, pick up from any location on Zanzibar or advise on vehicle rental.
