Trevigue is steeped in history having been a farm since before the Norman Conquest and is mentioned in the Doomsday book. The farm has been tenanted from the National Trust for 40 years and extends to 200 acres. It has three miles of stunning coastline with impressive cliffs and the lovely, unspoilt Strangles beach, the haunt of smugglers in times past and more recently of the famous author, Thomas Hardy. Trevigue Cottage is positioned to one side of the main farm and enjoys great views over the valley and rolling farmland beyond. It is a really tranquil spot to enjoy a holiday. Please note that Trevigue Cottage is only suitable for up to a maximum of 4 adults and 2 children. Accommodation Ground Floor: Porch, leading through to 2 sitting rooms (only 1 available to a couple taking advantage of the discount), both with wood burning stoves, large kitchen diner, a downstairs shower room & WC. There is also a really useful laundry room with access from the outside and an ideal place to store wetsuits, bikes, surfboards and wet dogs! First Floor: A master double bedroom with 5' double bed, a large twin bedroom with zip and link beds that can be joined together to form a 6' double. A smaller double bedroom with a 5' double bed and views over the valley. A further single bedroom with pull out guest bed (both of these beds are really only suitable for children). There is a family bathroom with WC. Exterior: Lawned garden with stunning views across countryside. External furniture and BBQ facilities. Facilities & Services Central heating throughout. The kitchen is well equipped with a electric induction Range Master cooker, an american style fridge / freezer, dishwasher, microwave and Nespresso coffee machine (with some starter pods to get . The laundry has a washing machine and tumble dryer. The main sitting room has a wide screen, plasma freeview TV with Blu-ray DVD player (with cinema sound). Bose Bluetooth speaker. There is a smaller sitting room with TV and Blu-ray DVD player. There is also a TV in the master bedroom and hairdryer. There is an iron & ironing board. WiFi is available at the property. Miscellaneous Electricity and heating is included but you will need to provide your own logs (available locally) for the two wood burning stoves. Bed linen & towels are all included but you will need to provide your own beach towels. There is parking available for up to 2 cars on the shared driveway, with plenty of space for many vehicles nearby. Regrettably no smoking is allowed. There is a cot & high chair available. There are stair gates at the top and bottom of the main stairs and a stair gate at the bottom of the stairs leading up from the kitchen. One well behaved dog is welcome at an additional charge of £35 per week, although please remember that you cannot leave dogs unattended in the property alone. PLEASE NOTE DOGS ARE NOT PERMITTED AT THE PROPERTY IN JULY & AUGUST. General Booking Information Arrival / Departure is a Sunday. Short breaks are available during quieter periods. £200 pre-authorised to your credit or debit card as a security deposit is required. Discounts available for a couple staying for 7 nights outside the peak season, using one room only. Please note that the large sitting room will be closed to guests renting on this basis; the smaller sitting room will be available together with the downstairs shower room (but not the upstairs bathroom).
