Overview
Villa -
3 Bedrooms , 2 Bathrooms , Sleeps 6
La Herradura, Almunecar, Province of Granada, Andalucia
The villa has recently gone through a refurbishment including new kitchen. Sleeps 6. 3 bedroom villa with furnished balcony, shared pool and stunning views of the valley and the local beach which is a 15 min walk away. La Herradura itself still maintains that original Spanish feel that is hard to find these days with plenty of local bars and restaurants to suite all tastes and pockets.

Whilst you will be able to find music and dancing if you look hard enough this is really ideally situated for those people looking for a relaxing holiday in an authentic part of Spain. Both Malaga and Granada airports are within an hour’s drive (we do recommend a car to make the most of your holiday) though local transfer can be arranged if required. So all you need to do once you have booked is to imagine yourself relaxing on the balcony with a glass of w...

We live only 30 mins away but we also have an agent based in La Herradura should you need any help. So that you do not need to worry about flight delays etc we have installed a key safe on the property, just ensure you have a torch with you to be able to enter the safe code if you arrive at night (most mobile phones have them these days)

Reviewed 16 May 2017 for a stay in January 2017

Nice well equipped villa in a good location to enjoy and explore all the area has to offer.

A big part of Spain for me is the outdoor living. Most days (it does rain) from mid January until mid April the weather was mild enough to eat meals outside. Waking up to the sunrise, sun on terrace during the morning - magic. Enough space outside to eat, sunbathe/exercise and dry clothes. The beach was a 20 minute walk (but this with the roads being resurfaced) and had a nice stroll along there most days. Very well placed for trips out to Granada, Nerja, Alpujarras etc with plenty of walks. Several beaches nearby, plenty of activities locally.

Eating out; A new restaurant, No. 20 opened in La Herradura while I was there. Lunch there a couple of times, nice people, food was good, a bit more expensive than others but the menu del dia changed everyday. 7 course thursday evening tasting menu was highly recommended by a friend who advised booking. The argentinian grill was good...

Management response:

Hi Alan, thank you for the review and I am glad you had a good stay. I have to agree that this part of Spain is so authentic compared to many of the tourist areas. Apologies for the problem with the electric - it's good to hear our agents sorted the problem so quickly though.

Management response:

Thank you for you review. I am sorry you found it hard to find the villa we will review our directions. The patio area at the back of the villa is in shade all morning, the front most of the afternoon. We hope to see you again.

About the neighbourhood
We recommend you have a car: A car would be necessary to go shopping in the village located 1 km away and to explore the area.
La Herradura (translated by the horseshoe) reflects perfectly the bay between the Cerro Gordo Peak and La Punta de la Mona. The village of La Herradura kept its Spanish character and contrary to other constructions in the uplands which are in Southern Spain, it succeed in being preserved despite tourism. You will find a selection of good restaurants and traditional Spanish bars. However, those who are seeking to enjoy night life will not be disappointed as there a a couple of live music venues within the village and Tuttie Fruitie Square in Nerja is a very well known night spot and is a short taxi ride away.! Nevertheless, the village has a few supermarkets, banks,...
