This apartment is in an excellent location just yards from the shingle beach, but needs updating to kitchen and shower room. Nice size lounge, but the rest of the accommodation very limited in size. Bedroom has only a 4' bed, whilst kitchen and shower room are very small with outdated appliances. Kitchen lacks any work surfaces and has an old electric cooker and sink unit with a sagging top which means it cannot drain. Fridge freezer is in hall !. Shower room has tiny corner basin and old shower cubicle with mould around edges. Electric shower has limited power and when we arrived had a defective shower head. After taking my first shower the water would not drain away. Rather than flood the apartment I used the plunger which was sitting (suspiciously) next to the shower in an attempt to clear any blockage. A great wad of hair came out of the drain to be followed by black gunge. At this point I thought 'this is ridiculous when I am on holiday'. I visited the agent on the Monday...

A holiday cottage in Beer will tick all the boxes – the little fishing village with the big heart. With an excellent selection of local shops (village store, Post Office/ off-licence, bakery, deli, several eateries, 3 local inns, art galleries, antique shops) and of course the beautiful beach - a real sun-trap with clean waters, rock pools at low tide and beach cafes serving great breakfasts and home-made treats.
