Located in the center of the beautiful village of Pontlevoy in the heart of the Loire Valley, surrounded by a beautiful abbey and its gardens, you will enjoy the luxurious comfort and charm of this very 'French' demeure of an Artist. We are a Franco-American family living in Portland, Maine and we are offering our recently renovated (2013) 1 bedroom holiday cottage/gite, in the Loire Valley region, Central France. We are based in the heart of chateaux region, the Beautiful and legendary Loire Valley with its beautiful, ever-changing landscapes and huge skies. Its 'old France', full of medieval towns and villages, bustling markets, vineyards and vintners and fantastic family run restaurants. The gite, an artist's home, is full of character and boasts original architectural details, beautifully patina walls, tiled floors with rugs (famous beginning of century 'tommettes'), brand new kitchen (antique dishes), Italian shower, comfy sofa, TV, games, high speed Wi-fi Internet access, king size bed, original Art , and all amenities to facilitate your stay : dishwhasher, washing machine, outdoor garden, induction stove and cooking equipment...it will feel like home. It is located in the heart of Pontlevoy, a village full of charm, a couple of steps away from the beautiful abbey and it's grounds, right in the center of the village. Parking is not a problem. Additional information : . Perfect location in center of Village, . Long bike path from house . . Bike rental available . 4 restaurants within walking distance (less than 3 mn) . Pharmacy doctors and local shops . Local bakery, fresh bread within 20 second walk . 2 local pubs 'Le commerce' - French food warm tea anytime - and le Peche gourmand, good cuisine. People speak english rather well in the village as it has been the residence of artists, writers and international travellers from all over the world since the turn of the 20th century. We can also organize for you special events : airport pick up - romantic getaway in Paris - Wine tastings - Hot air balloon rides - private visits in chateaux and mushroom caves - restaurant bookings.... We are close to: All the chateaux of the Loire Valley, Chenonceau (10 miles away) Chambord and Blois (20 minutes) the beautiful and cosmopolitan cities of Orleans, Tours, Blois and Bourges... Great antiques and flea markets on sundays during local village festivals.
