Great location, beach on doorstep, our dog loved this. Boathouse could do though with some modernization to make it a more comfortable stay. Great view and everyone came back more relaxed except the dog who was exhausted which must say something.

About the neighbourhood
Greencastle ( with an 18-hole golf course), has an excellent bathing beach. On a rock overlooking the entrance to Lough Foyle are the ruins of the castle after which the place is named. Built in 1305 by the 'Red Earl' of Ulster, Richard de Burgh, it was captured eleven years later by the forces of Edward Bruce. Noted for its fishing industry Greencastle is building a reputation as a sea-food mecca. The area provides easy reach to about 7 golf courses with 1 hour travel, and to numerous historical sights. Of particular interest is Grainin of Aileach (3000 year old ring fort!), Historic City of Derry, Bishops Palace and Mussenden Temple (which you can see from the rocks near the Boathouse), Giant's Causeway (take the ferry from Greencastle to Magilligan), Portrush and the Antrim coast.
