Incredible house in a fabulous village.
Incredible house. We were a group of 8. We had everything we needed and more. Extremely well equipped. Bedrooms were gorgeous and beds so comfy. Scrupulously clean. Everything about this house is just superb. Garden is beautiful and so well kept. We used the BBQ a couple of times and sat out to eat which was great. This is a wonderful house to accommodate all age groups and families/friends. Would go back tomorrow. Great pubs locally and butchers had the best pies and pasties I've ever tasted !

Fabulous House
Our family of 8 plus dog enjoyed a long weekend at this fabulous house. It was spotlessly clean and very comfortable . It was extremely well equipped. The host was very responsive and her welcome gifts were very much appreciated. We had a lovely evening meal at Copshaw Kitchen and enjoyed a morning coffee at the Olive Tree. We also booked a private session at the local pool. A great location right in the centre of the village with plenty parking. A visit to this house is highly recommended.

Adult only family holiday at Dalkeith House
Spent a relaxing week at this lovely Georgian townhouse. House is beautifully furnished and decorated and very well equipped. Plenty garden furniture to enjoy the outdoor patio area and lovely garden. Dog friendly which was a must for us. Barbara was very accommodating when we had a last minute additional guest. Locals and shopkeepers very friendly. Great customer service from staff at Liddlesdale Hotel on Douglas Square. Would definitely return if holidaying in the area and would not hestitate to recommend .

Fabulous stay, luxurious experience
We recently had a family get together at Dalkeith House, from the wow moment as you enter the beautiful entrance room, to every little detail it was perfect - we wished we could stay for longer.
We also loved the relaxed and friendly village of Newcastleton and it’s Cafe’s and shops, plenty of walks into the surrounding countryside and nature aplenty.
The property owners (Barbara especially) were great to deal with, even returning a toy we accidentally left behind with a lovely note , Thankyou

Wonderful week
We, a family of 6 adults, 4 teenagers and a dog. The weather was wet- very wet with the river breaking it’s banks! However the house and the village more than compensated. Accommodation excellent with plenty of room to spread out and the facilities of the highest quality, beds comfortable, water hot and plenty of kitchen and dining equipment. Walks from the house with the dog very welcome. The efforts from Barbara for our safety both on arrival and with the floods were exceptional. I have no reservations about recommending this house whatsoever and I would like to think we could return. Jan Jones

Perfect House for a family & friends get together
We spent a week at this glorious house in July, 3 families ranging in age from 4 to 62 + 1 dog!
The house is perfect for a large family gathering, wonderfully equipped, extremely comfortable with everything you could need. We had wonderful weather and made good use of the fabulous garden. There are some lovely walks straight from the front door.
The village has everything you need and was extremely welcoming. Visited the Liddlesdale on a number of occasions and were made so welcome. We ate there on our last night and wished we had done so before, just lovely and accommodating.
Communication with Barbara before, during and after was excellent and we would definitely recommend Dalkeith House.

Tremendously relaxing
We recently had a week long family stay at Dalkeith House and it was everything and more we could have hoped for. A superbly appointed home that was as welcoming as it was luxurious; the house has all the amenities you would hope for and also has a very mature garden that was a delight to spend time in. You really felt that you were quite detached from everything else that was going on in the outside world.
The village itself is also a delightful place with everyone we met incredibly welcoming and very happy to share any information you might want to know and you also have all you might want on your doorstep - butcher, baker and the local shop for all you might require.
A great stay and I would definitely recommend Dalkeith House and it is somewhere we hope to visit again.

Fantastic house!
We recently arrived home from a week's fabulous stay at this fantastic house. Four adults, four children and a dog.
Excellent communication from the owner pre arrival, during and after.
Situated right in the middle of Newcastleton with cafes, pubs and shops on the doorstep. The house is lovely, with everything you need and was spotless on arrival. Garden is a suntrap. Would definitely stay again and recommend wholeheartedly.

Fantastic Stay
We stayed 5 nights at Dalkeith House Aug2020, a party of 6 adults 3 children. The house was perfect. We were all blown away by the size, decor and how well equipped it was. On arrival the house was immaculate with clear guidelines of Covid-19 regulations. The house is right in the centre of the village with ample parking and next door to 2 hotels serving food which we ate in, very good.
The kitchen in the house was the most equipped we've come across, everything we needed! We cooked meals for all 9 of us with no issues.
Barabara the owner is excellent and kept in touch to ensure we were enjoying our stay.
I would highly recommend a stay here and we will definitely be returning.

The small village of Newcastleton, with a resident population of 800, is nestled in the valley of Liddesdale, gateway to the Scottish Borders. Surrounded by hills and forests with fabulous scenery, abundant wildlife and historical sites, perfect for getting away from it all and recharging your batteries, a great place to visit for the day - or longer. Five hundred years ago the hills would be ringing with the sound of clashing steel and fighting Reivers, today visitors experience a warm welcome. Newcastleton forest is home to one of the world-renowned 7stanes mountain bike trails from where you can cycle across the Scottish English border to Kielder where even more walks and trails abound. Rock UK, our local activity centre will be happy to indulge if you'd like to try abseiling, kayaking, fencing or plunge down the zip wire. Dalkeith House has exclusive deals for our guests, want to know more? Please get in touch. The challenge of the nine-hole golf course is one you will remember, but worth it to see the breathtaking views from the third hole. Find out more about Newcastleton, or Copshaw Holm, as it is known locally, by visiting the local heritage museum. If you are interested in tracing your family tree then the Hawick Heritage Hub is only 30 minutes away. Use their archives to look into famous Border names like Armstrong, Nixon, Elliot and Robson. Take a drive following the Reivers Route taking in famous sites like Hermitage Castle and Mangerton, where battles were fought to protect the borders bloodied lands.
Getting around
To appreciate all our scenery it is advisable to travel to the village by car. Car hire can be arranged from any mainline station, our nearest is Carlisle. The village offers a local bus service but this is only viable if you wish to travel to our local towns; Hawick in the north and Carlisle in the south.
The M6/M74 is only 30 mins away making Dalkeith House a great location for friends and families to meet who are travelling from the north, south, east or west.
