Situated in a peaceful valley at the confluence of two streams, this site would have been sacred to the Romans and is still a very special place today. With the ramparts of the fort guarding the farm yard to the west and the only Roman milestone left standing intact in it's original position just behind the cottage, few properties in Britain can have so many traces of Rome around them. <BR><BR>The cottage at Codley Gate Farm has recently been converted and provides superbly appointed 5 star holiday accommodation. We found the cottage very well equipped with all kitchen appliances. Very well maintained cottage throughout ; very clean - well done. Being able to pop into the Vindolanda Museum and digs at will meant we were able to get an in-depth understanding of the Romans in this part of the country. This for me was unique and amazing. Undoubtedly the very best holiday let we have ever stayed in! Stunning! Absolutely everything one could want or need for a truly relaxing week. Well appointed with all you need. Comfortable beds, gallons of hot water after those wet walks, brilliant log burner with plentiful supply of fuel. Amazing walks, decent pubs and lots of info in the cottage on...

A lovely,well equipped house. Ideally situated for excellent walks & free access to Vindolanda museum & Roman Fort. Very welcoming & friendly hosts . Would definitely visit again.

The cottage is fitted to a high standard to provide the best in comfort and luxury and is decorated in subtle Farrow and Ball colours. There are dimmable halogen lights throughout, a built in sound system to the living areas with an iPod docking station. The kitchen is an impressive room with a high beamed ceiling, slate flooring, extensive painted units with granite work-tops and includes an American style fridge-freezer with water and ice dispenser, Rangemaster Cooker and wall mounted LCD television. Deposits are 1/3 of the total price with the balance due 5 weeks before you arrive. Last minute bookings are payable in full 7 days before by cheque or on arrival in cash.

All prices quoted are per week and should be checked on booking.
Short breaks are available by arrangement in low seasons £300 for 3 nights, £350 for 4.

Reduction for couples low and mid seasons of £50 per week, excluding short breaks.
