WOW! I have finally found my happy place! We have just returned from gorgeous Beach Cottage, Sandend. This is the best cottage we've stayed in and we've had a few crackers! It is an all round box ticker, perfect inside and out, with absolutely everything provided for the most relaxing and peaceful holiday, in a super location. Sitting just above the stunning sandy beach, the ever changing view of the tide, stunning sunrise colours and beautiful evening sky was so therapeutic. The cottage is laid out for maximum appreciation of the scenery with picture window and perfect front garden seating. Inside is light and nicely decorated, spacious and cosy with ample room for four. The master bed was very comfy as well. We also had a large dog and there was lots of room to position multiple sleeping places for him too. The kitchen was fully equipped and had more than enough of everything you might need. Towels and cleaning stuffs were all provided, with specifics for the dog, incase. A washing machine, dryer, extra fridge freezer, microwave, oven, dishwasher and my favourite, the coffee machine all make holiday living so easy. The porch was ideal for stripping off the wet beach gear and there's an outside tap for hosing down the sandy dog after all his fun in the sea. There are many fantastic places to visit close by also, Sunnyside beach, Portsoy and Cullen and slightly further away beautiful Roseisle forest and coastline, although you'd be forgiven for just staying in Sandend. We loved it and will be returning as soon as we possibly can.

Most Relaxing Weekend
As a family we were badly in need of some ‘time out’. Beach Cottage was everything we needed and more. It’s actually our 3rd time to the cottage (haven’t been since 2017 though) The cottage was spotlessly clean and well equipped with everything we needed! Board games to play, even did the jigsaw! Lovely bottle of wine on arrival which was a beautiful touch and a ball and some poo bags for our little dog. The view from the living room window is out of this world and I would never tire waking up to this each morning. We were blessed with the weather too which was just amazing. Our dog was gutted when we were leaving - think she thought it was a permanent move!! We most certainly will be back - a massive thank you to Sue!!!

Amazing cottage for a relaxed stay
We spent a long weekend at the Beach cottage. As soon as we arrived I knew the weekend would be fantastic. Amazing views of the beach, log fire, brand new kitchen with all utensils and cookware, comfy beds and warm duvets. Woke up the first morning and opened the curtains to see an amazing sunrise from our bed, so relaxing to hear the waves. Only downside and not the owners fault is the street light just outside the bedroom window at night but a minor downside!
My husband spent hours riding waves, my son loved the beach and I enjoyed the walks from the cottage. We liked it so much that we booked it again for a week in October.

Dog friendly, lovely cottage
This unassuming cottage gave us everything we could have asked for in a winter break. Sue provided everything we needed and more, and she was so helpful in answering a couple of queries I had before our stay. We had a wonderful break. Lots to see and do during the days and cosy nights in by the fire apart from the odd dash to the harbour to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights. Sunrises and sunsets were gorgeous and how lovely to watch them over the beach from the windows. Highlights - walking along Sandend beach and over to Portsoy, cycling from the cottage to Findlater Castle and along the coast, buying fresh hot smoked salmon from the neighbouring fish merchant, lunch at The Old Kirk Bistro at Fordyce, Rockpool Cafe in Cullen, and Cullen pet cemetery which is very sweet to walk around. Returning every eve to this lovely cottage was the perfect end to each day. We will definitely be returning.

Out-'Sandend'-ing!
Breathtaking!
Sue has made a real home from home, thinking of every detail for a family with young children and a dog!
Closest stop we've had to an amazing bay, beach and village, with scenery to die for!
The locals made us feel at home, with smiling faces and dog fusses every day!
Even the bullocks in the field behind the cottage came Alongside the fence for a fuss!
Amazing fresh fish from Smith's, fresh produce from Mains Farmshop (Sundays only), and surf lessons from Suds. Massive thanks to Jo for the lesson, the kids had a 2-1 2 hour session, her patience and encouragement made it!
Travelled a little further to Whitehills for Cullen Skink at the Seafield Arms. Great food and great value for money.
Port house at Portsoy is worth a visit for awesome coffee and cake, a nice harbour side treat in Peaky Blinders stage set!
Crabbing on the harbour wall at Sandend, and skimming stones off the slip whilst watching Jelly fish made for top memories.
We were fortunate enough to see Dolphins twice during our stay, tracking one pod from Findlater castle around the coast passed Sandend to Portsoy, just beautiful!
Beach Cottage was a comfortable stay, we loved waking up grabbing a brew and sitting in the bay window watching the world go by... sea birds dive bombing for fish was a favourite morning activity!
Nothing was too much trouble for our host Sue, even managing to get us a replacement toaster sorted for the beautiful new kitchen!
We were sad to leave, but have already made a repeat booking for 2023!

Perfect relaxing beach retreat
My husband and I have just returned from a lovely stay at beach cottage. The cottage has beach views that take your breath away! We never tired of sitting looking out of the bay window at the waves crashing
The cottage itself was spotlessly clean, cosy ( we had Arctic temperatures!) and comfortable with everything you could possibly need.
We visited lots of lovely wee towns in the area and sampled some delicious local food, including smoked haddock from the smokehouse in Sandend.
Our wee dog Bella had the best time ever playing and exploring on the beach.
Would definitely recommend - we have already booked for next year 😊

Love this cottage and area
Love this cottage. We will definitely be back here.
Cottage is really well equipped and spotless. Everything we needed there. Lovely welcoming comfortable interior and lovely garden areas front and back of the cottage.
Nice welcome pack of wine, etc.
Excellent attention to detail regarding the prevention of Coronavirus.
The most wonderful view of the beach. Could spend all day watching this view. A good spot for surfers and was very popular but nothing too busy. Loved it.
Regular communications and advice including local places to use and visit from the owner.
Four adults in our party and plenty of space for us all.
I can’t recommend this cottage enough.
We are looking to book it again soon.
Thank you.

Amazing sea view
Amazing sea view from the lounge window, a lovely place to sit at night and watch the waves and then in the morning a great front garden to have a coffee. Great property, the best in Sandend. Saw the Dolphins 3 times, which was fantastic to see. Love the beach and the coastal walks to Portsoy, Cullen and Portknockie. Portsoy has an excellent icecream shop and Portknockie has amazing fish and chips. We will definitely be back.

Just perfect!
This cottage is just perfect: great location (Sandend is a little fishing village with almost no tourism, quiet and calm, romantic and intact. However, it got a surf school, and a small fish manufacturer with daily fresh fish), great house (well and nice equipped, enough room for four persons, front and back garden, amazing view on to the bay), great nature (saw dolphins, gannets, walked along the coast, watched the endless sea), great host (very friendly and caring, excellent communication, felt very welcomed).

Brilliant cottage and owner. Lovely location stunning views
Sue the owner is lovely and couldn’t do enough to make our visit special, excellent communication.
All photos of the cottage do not capture how good a location the cottage has. Large windows commanding stunning views of the bay, You can sit in the cottage and watch the surfers and everyone on the beach. You can lay in bed with window open listening to the sea. It has the best location in Sandend.
The cottage itself has quality furnishings and has everything you could ever need on holiday. Plenty space in the cottage as the rooms are large, airy and well equipped with good central heating should you need it.
Tried to rebook this year but was fully booked, not surprised as it’s that good!!!
Nearby try the surf school and make sure and try the delicious ice cream at Portsoy.

Sandend is a tiny historic fishing village dating from the 16th c. We frequently come to stay and don’t even leave the village / bay for days! Walking the dog on the beach, or out along the coastal footpath to Findlater Castle and Sunnyside Beach. Mooching up to the harbour to watch the waves followed by relaxing in the cottage and the ever changing wonderful view across the bay is all that we need for a great break.
If you are lucky you can spot the dolphins in the bay and seals on the rocks, and when the surf is up watching the surfers catch the waves is strangely mesmerising. If you are looking for relaxation in a beach front setting then this is it - we think we have the best view and position in the village.
Getting around
If you do fancy venturing just a little further afield then Sandend makes a great base. As well as the coastal footpath there are a number of lovely local walks around Cullen and Sandend features on one of the North Coast cycle routes. It's right on the new North East 250 route - the 'ultimate road trip'.
For nature lovers a trip to the Dolphin Centre at Spey Bay is a must, and can be combined with a visit to Portgordon to see the seal colony (usually easy to spot by the old ice house).
There are a number of great day trips too - the historic towns of Elgin and Huntly are nearby or out along the coast to Fraserburgh to the Lighthouse Museum and visit the tiny yet iconic villages of Crovie and Pennan. Castles, whisky and much more too!
