The House:<BR><BR>Like most in the village, our house is an old, thick stone-walled building with its foundations probably going back to Arab times (the church at the top of the hill was originally the village mosque). Although modernized, It has a rustic, typical Andalusian peasant feel to it, which we have tried to preserve.<BR><BR>The house is on three levels. On the ground floor is a newly-built bathroom and laundry, on the 1st floor a dining room with a small kitchen suitable for light meals and two bedrooms, the larger, a double-bedroom, with en-suite bathroom. This house is beautiful and a taste of the real Spain. The village is gorgeous and the views from the roof terrace unbelievable. This holiday would be wonderful for those with a car but there is plenty to walk to and explore in the area too.

Canillas de Albaida has several amenities including the large village swimming pool and pergola restaurant/bar which is open during the summer and is only 3 minutes walk from our front door. <BR><BR>All year round there are various 'Fiesta' days in and around the village when live music is played and wine drunk in appreciable amounts- apart from that, the nightlife is fairly quiet and revolves around the four local bars (but sometimes till early morning). Bars around here, of course, only shut when the last customer leaves. <BR><BR>The main Fiesta is 'San Anton', the patron saint of the village, on the 1st weeked after the 14th January. It's easy to get to Canillas de Albaida from Malaga by public transport. The house is located in the old part of the village just 3 minutes walk for the bus stop (the bus that comes from Malaga terminates at our village). Buses leave from Malaga Coach station 3 times a day and takes about two hrs. From the airport to the coach station there are frequent buses and also trains. Malaga airport is well served by most low-cost airlines.<BR><BR>On the other hand, hiring a car form Malaga airport is not too expensive and will shorten the whole journey by an hour or more. You will also be able to explore the region and even do day trips to Granada and Malaga. If you decide to hire we can give you the web address of the people we use who give discounted rentals.
