The Lake House is a 16th century stone farmhouse set in 10 acres of private grounds in the middle of a 100 acre estate, with a private fishing lake and a large 10 x 5 metre swimming pool with panoramic views over rolling countryside. For nature lovers, the amount of wildlife is amazing.<BR><BR>Exposed beams, a magnificent fireplace and stone pillars feature in the huge living room. This property seemed almost too good to be true when I first came upon it in the brochure. On arrival, it proved to be more than we expected.

The accommodation is lovely, comfy, spacious, well equipped and spotlessly clean. The surrounding grounds are very well maintained and endless! The lake provided us with some pleasant fishing, lots of 4lb mirror carp and gorgeous views. There is a basketball hoop and surfaced area to play about on for the kids.

The swimming pool is the perfect size for the 2 properties on the farm.

The nearby village of Argenton les Vallees (4 miles) has a fab Carrefour supermarket with a bit of everything to get you by - no surprise, the wine selection is great!

Just 40 min drive away is the incredible 'Grand Parc' Puy du Fou. I cannot reccommend this place enough. Whether you are a family or all adult group, this place is well worth a visit. Check out the website to see more.

We had a wonderful time here. Wonderful property set in countryside with pool and all mod cons. You couldn't wish for a better place to relax. Local Le Clerc Supermarket has everything you need for supplies.

If you like wildlife this is the place for you. There are a couple of families of Coypu living in the lake. Bats and Owls nest in the neighbouring barn and tiny lizards sunbathe on the creeping vine at the back of the property.

Kitchen facilities are very good but one of the fridges wasn't cooling properly so we lost some of our food unfortunately. The front door lock was broken which was a nuisance at times but we got managed ok in the end.

The property is not generally available to use until 4pm on the day of arrival. If you are arriving on an early ferry you might be able to store your belongings in the downstairs utility room but that's it.

BEWARE: the owner insists on a £300 separate deposit before you stay at the property and keeps it...

This property is close enough to drive to comfortably, yet far enough south to enjoy the warmer climate.
