For those wanting to explore further afield Glastonbury, Bristol, the Roman city of Bath and Exeter are all reachable in a day, as are Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole Caves and the reservoir at Wimbelball offering a variety of watersports or Clatworthy for fishing. The quiet rural location makes this an excellent spot for star gazing, and wildlife; park deer and foxes are frequently seen from the house, and owls, woodpeckers bats and many other birds are heard here.

My husband and I were both born in West Somerset and have lived most of our lives in the area. We can give advice about things to do and places to go, whether it's a quiet country walk, a good place for a meal or a scenic drive - just ask.
Merry Oaks gives you the best of both worlds - set in a quiet rural location but only a 5 minute drive or pleasant walk to the harbour town of Watchet, or the sands at Blue Anchor on the Bristol Channel, or head inland to medieval Dunster with historic castle, the hills of the Brendons, Quantocks or Exmoor, to see deer, Exmoor ponies, heather clad moorland, steep wooded valleys and quaint coutry villages. We are surrounded by lovely countryside for walking, with opportunities for fishing, mountain biking, sailing horse riding and many other outdoor sports.
