Holiday Rental House
Fairburn was purchased by the current owners in 2011 and has been sympathetically renovated with all new appliances, fixtures and fittings. The property was released for the rental market in the summer of 2012. The property lies in it's own 4.5 acre grounds where you can roam free in amongst the flora and fauna of the area. The property has extensive views over the Moray Firth to the south and east which can be viewed from the large picture windows in the lounge and conservatory. There are three bedrooms - two doubles and a twin. One of the doubles is ensuite. There is a separate bathroom too. The kitchen-diner has a brand new fitted kitchen with dishwasher, oven, hob, fridge-freezer, microwave and washing machine. The lounge has a woodburner and 32 inch TV with freeview digital channels...Fairburn was purchased by the current owners in 2011 and has been sympathetically renovated with all new appliances, fixtures and fittings. Fairburn is within walking distance to beautiful sandy beaches and fantastic moorland and countryside walks. There is also plenty of great golf and fishing close by in Brora and Helmsdale. Slightly further afield are the Orkneys and John O'Groats to the north and Inverness, Dornoch (with its Cathedral and famous golf course) and Golspie to the south. Fairburn is a great base to explore the beautiful region of the Northern Highlands.More

We stayed here for an entire two-month sabbatical in July and August. The views are unparalleled--fields, hills, the ocean, and LOTS of sheep. The house itself is no-frills but comfortable, with two full bathrooms, a sun room, and a living room with fireplace. The host...More

Fairburn is a cosy 3 bedroom cottage, spotlessly clean, with every amenity including a washing machine, dishwasher and heating - absolutely nothing to fault. It is close the Scottish Highlands and the Orkney Islands. We were spoilt for choice of beautiful golf courses. It is...More

About the neighbourhood
There is plenty of fishing available nearby. There is the whisky distillery 'Clynelish' in Brora which offers tours for those who like to indulge in a 'wee dram'. The fantastic sandy beaches on this part of the Moray Firth stretch for miles and are generally quiet and a great place to walk. There is lots of history. For example there is the Timespan museum in Helmsdale, Dunrobin Castle and Grounds/Falconry in Golspie. Further north is the gateway to the Orkneys and the interesting towns of Thurso and Wick in Caithness. Inverness is a very lively city just over an hour to the south with lots to see and do.
How to get there
The property is situated in an elevated position in 4.5 acres of land in the small hamlet of Lothmore on the north east coast of Scotland between Inverness and John O'Groats. The nearest larger villages with railway stations are at Brora and Helmsdale (both 5 miles away in opposite directions). Lothmore lies on a B road not far from the main A9 trunk road which links Inverness with the rest of the Highlands. There are good road, rail and air links with Inverness from all over the UK and beyond.
