We had a lovely week at Allanton Mill with our 6 year old son. The cottage is perfect, very well equipped and spotlessly clean. The only noise is the sound of the burn (steam). The gardens are beautiful and it was so nice to return...More

The most beautiful cottage in the most peaceful and idyllic location. Cottage has all you need and more. Can’t recommend enough.

Superbly well furnished and equipped cottage. Ultra comfortable bed (so important on holiday). Great location for all kinds of activities - cycling, hill walking, wildlife, coast, castles, forests, mountains, shopping....... I could go on, so much to do in this area. Perfect getaway. Clean, comfy, warm, exceptionally well equipped, good communication and friendly helpful interactions with the owner. It will be hard to beat. Even in poor weather and out of season there's plenty to do from here.Thank you we hope to return

Popular Solway coast destinations such as Criffel peak, Sandy Hills, Rockcliffe, Kippford and Kirkcudbright are within easy reach by car, as are well known castles, such as Drumlanrig, Morton and Caerlaverock. There are many cycle routes close by including 5 of the 7stanes mountain bike trails and numerous wonderful walks including Glenkiln where you can walk amongst Henry Moore and Rodin sculptures, the Mabie, Ae and Galloway Forests with huge loch...
