8 Coastguard Cottages is a 200 year old end of terrace cottage originally built for the coastguards of the day. It has a unique character. It is sited on a quiet road within the Angmering on Sea private estate just 2/3 minutes walk from the beach and the village amenities of East Preston. There are two bedrooms upstairs. The master bedroom at the front has a 5 foot double bed. The second bedroom, whilst small, can be made up as a 5 foot double, two singles or a single, as it is furnished with a truckle bed. Bed linen is provided and the beds made up as per your request on the booking form for your arrival. Towel packs consisting of a full size bath sheet, hand towel and face cloth are available on request at £20 each. The comfortable sitting room/lounge has an open fire, WiFi, flat screen TV, DVD player, a selection of DVDs, books and games. The downstairs is open plan so the sitting room leads through to the dining area and fitted kitchen, equipped with hob, oven, microwave, fridge and dishwasher. The kitchen/dining area retains its original flagstone floor. The bathroom is upstairs and has a bath with combined shower, a wash basin and a toilet. The cottage is double-glazed throughout and is centrally heated with a combination boiler so hot water is always available. To the front of the Cottage there is a spacious south facing courtyard with comfortable seating and table. Double glazed doors lead from the kitchen/dining area to a private, secure garden to the rear with garden table and chairs on the patio. A BBQ is available in the shed. We are dog friendly. Up to 2 well behaved dogs are welcome. Dog owners are kindly requested to keep their dogs off the furniture and beds. Please observe the 'No smoking' policy within the Cottage. Changeover day is a Friday but some flexibility is possible depending on other bookings. Upon payment details of how to obtain the keys will be notified to you by email, text message or phone call.

My only problem was a lack of freezer/freezer box. As it happens, not massively important for this short break as we intended to eat out but I always freeze our breakfast bread/croissants/buns to maintain freshness and I like to take some local food back home...More

Thank you for your positive review. Yes the cottage is ideally situated 2 minutes walk from the beach, the greensward and the village where there is a selection of places to eat and three pubs.

About the neighbourhood
The cottage is located on the private Angmering on Sea estate and is only 100 yards from the local shops and the beach. The village of East Preston has three pubs. The Clockhouse, Tudor and Seaview which serves lovely home cooked food. We also have three restaurants - the Bella Vista for Italian cuisine and lovely seaviews. The Reema for Indian food and the Penang for Chinese food. There is also a local grocery store, newsagents and off licence for all your daily needs. A delicatesants specialising in local Sussex produce. An excellent cafe - the Seahorse for English Breakfast or lunch, a fish & chip shop and kebab & Pizza takeaway. In the Summer there is also a delightful kiosk on the beach for homemade cakes and refreshments al fresco! The village also has a Physiotherapists, dry cleaners, barbers shop and hairdressers.
How to get there
The Cottage is located on the south coast of West Sussex in the village of East Preston approximately 35 miles from London Gatwick Airport and 73 miles from London Heathrow Airport. It is within easy access of the A27 for East & West Sussex, the M23 and A24 for London. The nearest train station is Angmering which is approximately 7/8 minutes taxi ride from the Cottage. The rail network is Southern with Angmering enjoying direct train service links to Central London, London Gatwick Airport, Brighton, Portsmouth and Southampton. Parking is available on the private road outside the Cottage with parking permits available for 2 vehicles. These must be displayed in your vehicle(s) when parked on the estate roads and returned before you leave.
