Situated in the Forest of Dean, the location proved to be ideal for walkers. We started our first walk straight out the door, and many other lovely walks were never far from our doorstep.

About the neighbourhood
The village of Staunton lies within the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is in an ideal location for exploring the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley. Staunton is a historic village and is known for being surrounded by stones such as the Buckstone, the Suckstone and the Near Hearkening Rock. With many tracks and bridleways, you can explore on foot straight from the door. The White Horse Inn is a free house offering a range of local real ales, ciders, wines and meals using a range of locally-produced food.
How to get there
From Monmouth, take the A40 towards the Forest of Dean, cross the river Wye and take the A4136 up the hill to Staunton. Travel through the village passing the White Horse Inn on the right hand side. After the church on the left, turn left into Whippingtons Corner and then immediately left into the lane alongside the church wall. The entrance to the lane is between the bus shelter and the Whippingtons Corner sign. Look out for The Coach House sign on the gate at the entrance to the lane. The Coach House is along the lane on the left hand side. From Coleford, take the A4136 towards Staunton/ Monmouth. On entering Staunton, take the first right into Whippingtons Corner and then immediately left into the lane alongside the church wall.
