This newly built lodge was partly funded by LEADER, an EU initiative and part of the Scottish Rural Development Programme to support growth in the rural economy.
Smiddyhill Lodge is a luxury two bedroom wooden cabin located in the beautiful Scottish Borders. The Lodge has large windows which overlook on one side green fields and on the other the river Tweed. It has double doors and 4 velux windows that let plenty of light in. The Lodge can accommodate 4 people plus 1 fold out bed.
Disability ramp for easy access, with decking back and front.
The cabin has a large living area with a comfy sofa and chairs, and a dining area. It is an Open plan design that is fully equipped.
Gas central heating through out and a log burner for those cosy evenings.
There are two bedrooms , one double and one twin. Both have ensuite facilities. (Shower rooms).
There is a garage area and storage facilities for cars/van, motor cycles, mountain bikes, fishing tackle etc.
The Lodge is sited on the A72 between Innerleithen and Peebles, and nestles between some of the best mountain bike trails nr Innerleithen and Glentress.
Just up the road towards Peebles is an 18 hole golf course at Cardrona, a 9 hole golf course on the outskirts of Innerleithen and another course at Peebles.
The river Tweed is close by and offers some of the best salmon and trout fishing.
Permits can be bought online or locally.
The whole property has security surveillance, lighting and is well fenced.
A private water supply feeds the cabin. Smiddyhill has its own UV system fitted. The quality of the water has been tested safe to drink.

The property is close to the River Tweed, for fishing permits go to Tweed beats.
There are two golf courses in Innerliethen and one in Peebles.
Easy access to walks and mountain biking routes. The property is close to Glentress and Innerliethen the hub for biking.
Private sheepdog demonstrations are available by request through owner.

We've just had the best few days at Smiddyhill Lodge. The lodge is absolutely immaculate with everything you could possibly need and it's in a great location. Great communication from the owner Julie from the moment we booked. We can't recommend this place enough. Thank you so much Julie we will definitely be returning in the future.

Thank you for a wonderful stay! The lodge is beautiful and was absolutely spotless, with every comfort provided. It’s also in a great location, with Peebles and Innerleithen both a short drive away, fishing on the Tweed just across the road, and the Macdonald Cardrona Hotel & Spa nearby.
We cooked for ourselves some nights (the kitchen has everything you could possibly need to cook a meal) but for the days when we wanted a break from cooking, the owner of the lodge has paired up with a lady who can provide ready-cooked home-made meals to the lodge. We ordered the Thai green curry sharing platter; all we had to do was heat it up and it was absolutely delicious!
We will definitely be coming back to this lodge. It feels like home, there’s plenty to do in the area, and it’s so beautiful. Thanks again Julie!

Perfect Holiday for all of us
Julie thought of everything one could need in a holiday-cottage. We had a wonderful time with the dogs enjoying the fantastic view.
The cabin is located next to to two lovely little towns with nice restaurants and pubs.

As good as it gets
This is one of the best places to stay in southern Scotland. The accommodation and facilities for both people and dogs are 5 star. The area is great for all outdoor activities and you get a real feel for events in Scotland’s history. On top of that, Julie Hill is one of the best sheepdog handlers in the world.

About the neighbourhood
Smiddyhill Lodge is located between Innerliethen and Peebles.
Innerliethen is the hub for mountain biking with lots trail rides. Glentress is just a short distance away where many competitions are held.
Cardrona is close by and offers a 18 hole golf course and at the other end of the village is a 9 hole golf course where there are many walkways for walking your dog. Peebles also has its own course.
If you enjoy fishing then the River Tweed is just a stones throw away. Permits can be bought locally, or online.
At the Lodge itself you can book your very own private sheepdog demonstration. Watch real working dogs in action in the birth place of the border collie. Contact the owner for availability when you book your stay.

The Lodge is sited just off the A72. There is a bus route (X62 Borders buses) that runs on the A72.

The Lodge is sited just off the A72 road between Innerliethen and Peebles.
Turn in at the Glenormiston farm entrance, follow road for approx 100 yards before turning hard back to the left down hardcore track.
Follow this track until you come to double gates where you arrive at the Lodge.
There is plenty of parking spaces including disabled parking.
Edinburgh airport is 45 minute drive away.
Train service from Tweedbank nr Galashiels 25min drive.
Borders buses travel regularly on the A72 Innerliethen/Peebles Road.
