Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.

Wonderful family break
Stunning cottage and location. We had a wonderful relaxed family break here. Beautifully decorated and comfortable cottage with all home comforts provided. The cottage is within easy reach of many tourist locations across Dorset and is a delight to return to after a day out.
We will be returning in the future and my wife and my two daughters cannot wait!

Wonderful!
Beautiful cottage in the most picturesque village. The kitchen was fantastic. Everything you could wish for. The beds were big and comfortable. The house although big was cosy and homely. The people in the village were very friendly. There is so much to do in the area and lots of places to visit especially if you are a National Trust member. Fantastic holiday In wonderful Dorset.

19 DAYS TO TODAY...... STILL WAITING FOR REFUND FOR £800+
I booked our accommodation on 26Jan2024 and cancelled it the following day 27Jan2024. The hosts responded on the same day saying that my refund for the deposit will be done automatically.
On 7Feb2024, I still have not received a refund so I contacted the hosts again. They responded on the same day and apologised. They also said that they've now cancelled my booking manually.
On 12Feb2024, the refund still has not arrived so I emailed the hosts saying that if I have not received the refund by 14Feb2024, I am going to make a formal complaint. At the time of writing, it's past 10:00pm on 15Feb2024 - I have NOT received a response from the hosts and I still have NOT received a refund of £800+ for the deposit I paid.
Note:
We have not stayed at this cottage but since it is mandatory to give TripAdvisor's review system the period of our stayd, I answered the question "When did you go?" as Feb2024.

Excellent cottage on a splendid location
We stayed with 2 adults and 2 kids (15y) for a mid week in April 2023. Enjoyed the walks to the farm shop nearby for groceries. Picked up some fresh trout from the local fish farm. Superb kitchen for cooking and a long table for family diner. Every thing you would look for, is available. For eating out we can recommend Rick Stein’s restaurant in Poole at the Sandbanks.
We enjoyed our stay at the three little pigs cottage every minute!!

Little pigs would live in luxury here!
Spent a most enjoyable three night stay at 3LPs at the end of June. The beautifully appointed 17th century cottage is sited near the centre of a street mostly consisting of similar designed and maintained buildings. The Street itself runs through a steeply sided narrow valley ending near a picturesque lake. It also boasts a gastro pub and post office/shop. Unfortunately, the former is currently only able to serve bar snacks and not full meals. A bit of a disappointment as we would have preferred not to have had to travel – nearest other gastro pubs being 8-10 miles away.
The cottage boasts well maintained front and rear gardens – the latter being heavily stepped towards the rim of the valley and, apart from the patio outside the French doors – not really conducive to games or those with a mobility issue. The cottage consists of two distinct parts – the original building and a large rear extension housing the well set out modern kitchen/dining room, ground floor bedroom suite and toilet. They are all furnished to a high standard in keeping with the overall design of the cottage. A welcoming hamper on arrival was greatly appreciated. The original cottage has been carefully preserved or renovated with many character features in the living rooms and two upstairs bedrooms. The upper floor also houses a utility room and modern bathroom. One cannot help but be impressed and have an enjoyable stay here and would recommend it to most people looking for a pleasant break.
The only slightly negative, or constructive comments I would offer is that those with a mobility issue might find the stairs challenging to master and, not surprisingly, given the age of the cottage there are a few places where guests may benefit from a mind your head notice, or a trip hazard reminder.

Idyllic in every way
The owners could not be more helpful with their suggestions of things to do, places to visit & eat, and responsiveness to every question. We booked a long weekend to celebrate a big birthday and were delighted. You feel instantly relaxed by Milton Abbas and it's unique setting. This is further enhanced by Three Little Pigs & how it's been lovingly restored and updated to create your ideal "home from home". The walking distance pub & farm shop, Jurassic Coast, rolling hills, woodland walks, and over-riding peace & serenity are addictive. Book now, you will not be disappointed.

Beautiful
We, four adults, stayed for a four night break in October. The property is stunning and we thoroughly enjoyed our break. The welcome hamper was a lovely surprise and very useful. I can honestly say the Three Little Pigs was immaculate from top to bottom and was a lovely place to return to after a days sightseeing. There was everything anyone could want - even down to a shoe horn! One of our party would have struggled with the stairs as they are quite steep so the downstairs bedroom was very welcome. Can only say a big thank you to the owners for giving us the opportunity to stay in this amazing house. Would love to stay again - when the nights are lighter - as it was a bit ‘hairy’ driving home in the dark!

Weekend away
5 of us came for a weekend away in early September. The cottage was first class, clean and excellent facilities. The kitchen was well equipped with everything needed if you wanted to cook in. Lovely seating areas in the garden to sit and relax. We all had a great weekend and hope to return in the future.

Unpleasant, Racist and Obnoxious Hosts
I have travelled to many places, both abroad and now within the UK and i have NEVER had to deal with such hostility, unfriendliness and ignorance from hosts or staff like that of this duo. I must say, i had really hoped that the situation would improve and that i could write a more positive review, because the cottage has some real potential. However the hosts attitude and behaviour, particularly that of Stephanie means that i am unable to write anything but a very honest review. When we arrived on Monday 27th September, we noticed that the radiators were stone cold, and by the evening it was very chilly in the house. Therefore we wrapped up as much as we could as we assumed it would be too late to get through to the hosts and waited until morning to call Stephanie. Once we found some signal i called to report the issue with the fact that the radiators were not working despite following the instructions for adjusting the heating, and instead of apologising she became very defensive and told me she would adjust the temperature remotely, and she assured me it would work because they just had it on for previous guests a week ago. It didn't! So we waited and i phoned her again, but at this point she ignored my phone call. I tried the other number and eventually got through to her husband who told me the heating hadn't been switched on for months and so it would take some time to warm the house up. This clearly contradicts what the wife said, but nonetheless I asked for advice on what to do and followed the guidance. Nothing! Sadly, once they had run out of suggestions (two) they began evading our phone calls and text messages.
I'd like to reiterate that I have travelled to a lot of places and typically if you report an issue the hosts, management or staff are responsible for doing their utmost to resolve the problem, or at least to ensure their guests are as comfortable as possible. These people did not, and did the exact opposite. They couldn't care less, and never once apologised. There were many occasions where we would breathe and see our own breath in the air. It was absolutely baltic. We became so desperate that we began to dry our clothes just to keep warm. I also reported that I had underlying health issues, and so the cold significantly impacts on me physically, and we still did not receive any support or goodwill gestures.
As they have cameras in their cottage, I truly believe that their treatment of us was based on discrimination, because if we had been an older white couple or i am sure they would have been a lot more hospitable. This was confirmed after we returned home and phoned them to provide some verbal feedback and Stephanie put the phone down on my mother.
We have been patient, polite and considerate throughout this horrendous ordeal, despite the circumstances and we would expect the same back but clearly this couple are in the wrong business especially when dealing with paying customers!! I would urge anybody who may consider booking this accommodation to read this review and think hard before doing so. We were treated like animals, not humans, and these people showed zero remorse or concern.

A fantastic cottage to explore Dorset
We stayed at this cottage for a weekend break from London in June.
The cottage is located in a quiet lovely town - all the houses in this town are similar style with the beautiful roof and you will feel you've time travelled back a century. The cottage has 3 double bedroom (all double beds, so suited for a group with people who won't mind sharing beds). The decoration is artisit and vintage style, while all the facilities - shower, toilet, kitchen and TVs - are all modernised and easy to use. The wine display is amazing. Also, there's a spacious, lovely back garden spanning out along a layered slope. There are swings and benches for people who want to spend time outside. There's a bbq, but we didn't have chance to use it because it was raining for both of the evenings we were staying.
Personally, I love this location. Everything was within 30-40min (20 miles) drive away. We went to Maiden Castle in Dorchester, Charmouth beach to find some fossils, West bay for a boat tour and Durdle Door beach to check the beatiful cliffs and beach. However, someone in our group would prefer to stay closer to the beach, but I guess it's a personal choice.
There are plenty of pubs, especially near the coast and Dorchester - again it means you will have to drive to them. I think there's one pub in the town, but they didn't open for food at the time we were staying. The next nearest is 5 miles away and they close for food at 8pm. We went to The Sun Inn for both evenings and it was a wonderful experience.
Grocery shopping is easy. We went to a Tesco superstore, which is 10min drive away.
The hosts are very helpful. They sent very detailed instruction for checking in and out, as well as lots of recommendation for things to do and restaurants to check out. Upon arrival, we had issues with the pin lock, but Stephanie picked up our call straight away and let us in, so that wasn't an issue. There was a welcome hamper with local produces - butter, milk and bread.
Overall, a very lovely and welcoming experience we had. We will come back and hopefully will stay for longer.
