The attractions in the Forest are all within a short, scenic drive - from magical Puzzlewood where Merlin and Star Wars were filmed, to Clearwell Caves, Goodrich and Chepstow Castles, Tintern Abbey, Dean Forest Steam Railway and Perrygrove miniature steam railway, Go Ape, Canoeing & Kayaking on the River Wye, Farm shops and Craft markets, etc. You will find information on these and many more in your cottage. The cities of Gloucester, Bristol, Hereford and Cardiff are also an easy drive. The village of Yorkley is only half a mile away where you will find 2 village pubs, 2 general stores, a post office, hairdressers, health centre and community centre. The town of Lydney, 3 miles away, has a Tesco supermarket, numerous takeaways and eat-ins, swimming pools, parks and leisure facilities. Owners live on site and personally inspect each cottage to ensure it has been thoroughly cleaned ready for our guests' arrival. They are also on hand to answer any questions.More

About the neighbourhood
Our cottages are situated right beside the beautiful Forest of Dean. Open the gate and you are in the forest! The forest is a wonderful playground and learning experience for children, and loved by cyclists, walkers, birdwatchers etc. There are also many attractions to visit locally, such as caves, castles, steam railways, heritage centres etc., and activities to get involved in - climbing, canoeing, kayaking, walking, cycling, golf, fishing, horse-riding etc. You will find tourist information and map in Forge Cottage.
Getting around
The best way to really explore the local area and to see the wildlife are on foot or by bicycle. By car is the best way to visit those attractions a little further away.
