About the neighbourhood
Crinan Canal Cottage is situated in the much sought-after hamlet of Cairnbaan, a charming area of unspoilt natural beauty approximately halfway along the Crinan Canal. The canal itself is picturesque and beautifully landscaped, and provides plenty of interest with the daytime passage of boats to and fro. Cairnbaan is very conveniently located within 3 miles of the shopping and leisure facilities of the small town of Lochgilphead, and within 2 hours drive of Glasgow. Lochgilphead is the main centre for mid-Argyll and its amenities include shops, schools, businesses, sports facilities, a swimming pool, a hospital and council offices. Cairnbaan is also situated approximately 30 miles south of Oban know as The Gateway to the Isles. In addition to offering a full range of amenities and travel...
Getting around
Situated next to the historic Crinan Canal at Cairnbaan. The most convenient way to see the sights is by cycle or car. There is a local bus that runs along the canal to Crinan Harbour. Bike hire is available in Lochgilphead and with easy scenic rides or more challenging single-track, the area offers a wide choice of activities - or just chill out with a good book in front of the wood burning stove, or laze in the garden watching the yachts pass by.
