The Green Room is the first bedroom of "OurPlace" the 2 Bedroomed apartment upstairs. When we are not in residence you have the sole use of the fully equipped kitchen, open plan lounge area & 48' x 10' veranda with an amazing view across Castara bay. Perfect for Al fresco dining, bird watching & sunsets. It offers a chance to relax surrounded by birds, flowers & trees. When we are in residence we would be using the 2nd bedroom ie the Yellow Room the price is then reduced to the same as one of our Self catering Studio apartments as you would share the communal areas such as the kitchen/lounge & veranda with ourselves. We built this house for ourselves, friends and family to enjoy and it would have been selfish not to want to be able to share it! For more photos & 132+reviews checkout our listing on Tripadvisor A 5 minute walk to 2 safe beaches ( one with lifeguards ) in the small fishing village of Castara NOT a resort by any means, it is a working fishing village whose friendly people make visitors welcome. Small bars to 'lime' in, places to eat locally caught fish & other dishes & buy locally grown fruit & vegetables, Small stores sell basic provisions & a few gifts & locally made handicrafts. You can help pull in the seine nets or buy fish from the fishermen nearly every afternoon. Swim & snorkel to coral reefs, walk in the rainforest or up to the local waterfall for a cool dip in the heat of the day. Definitely no Jetskis, banana boats, beach hustlers or hair braiders to spoil your relaxing on the beach though you may have to move ( or join in ) if the children play beach cricket! As the name says Carpe Diem "Seize the day"

Fabulous!
An excellent property in a great location near to all the amenities that you need - it is so beautiful! The owners, Yvonne and Chris were staying at the time and we had great fun meeting them and went out with them often. Everything we expected and more and everything the package says!!!

Pure relaxing paradise with stunning views and friendly people and great food and weather!
Where do I start? This was our first visit to tobago with our family.lets just say we were NOT disappointed!! Firstly don't let the long flight put you off.... We flew with British Airways and they really looked after us and before we knew it we had arrived in Tobago.As soon as we stepped off the plane we felt very welcome.The people are very friendly.transfer time to Castara is minimal (about 40 mins) and we were picked up by a nice guy who told us about various places to visit and offered to stop at a supermarket for provisions.Once at the apartment you realise that you have arrived in paradise!! With stunning views beautiful birds and flowers and weather and just a sense of complete peace and tranquillity.You really are made to feel very welcomed by the local people.Lots to join in with....pulling in the fishing nets,limbo dancing on drum night at the boathouse(excellent food) snorkling diving safe swimming from two great beaches yoga at the creol bar at other end of big bay beach bathing in the waterfall a short walk away from carpe diem plenty of places to eat with various entertainment such as steel drum a bonfire on the beach and generally just chillin chatting drinking and relaxing.Boat trips around the island are fantastic and so too is the rum punch 😉 we can not fault our stay at carpe diem.Everything met our requirements to a high standard.lining and towels changed regularly good cooking facilities inc an outside bbq perfect for grilling your caught fish (or that that you may buy from the local fishermen) comfy lay back deckchairs to enjoy the stunning sunsets or watching the hummingbirds feed.fantastic view from lieing in your bed! Lots of books of local interest and maps etc and a bird guide which helps explain about all the different kinds you will privileged to see.We just can't wait to go back!!! ...if I had to find one negative it would be the cockerels but to be honest you DO get used to them and actually the sound of the ocean soon brings you back to a relaxing state before you know it.... Guys thanks for reading my review all I can say is go check this out for yourself....perfect accommodation in paradise...you won't be disappointed.I will just add one more thing Chris and Yvonne who are the owners are not only really helpful on advising places to visit or answering any questions or concerns you may have but they are very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble.... To live in this wonderful part of the world is amazing...they are truly blessed!

Highly recommended
We had a fantastic 10 day stay at carpe diem villas at the end of March. The apartment was comfortable and had everything you would need and the views were truly stunning. There are some amazing birds in the area which you will see regularly and the usual wildlife that you would expect on a Caribbean island (including chickens!!). The villa is located off the main road and up a little path and felt safe and private. There are two apartments next to each other but that wasn't a problem and we met some nice people there. It was great to share places worth going to and any other tips. The beach is very easy to reach from carpe diem villas (5 minute walk down the hill). The hosts Chris and Yvonne were very helpful and friendly and didn't push any tours (which we heard some hosts did). They actually helped us arrange a fishing trip through one of their friends, which turned out to be much cheaper than what we were offered when we asked around and was one of our favourite days! Compared to many other holidays we have been on, you weren't hassled at all really for tours and day trips. In the 10 days we were asked maybe 3 or 4 times but it was always friendly and actually things that you might want to do. We hired a car which I would highly recommend, the island is fairly easy drive around once you get used to it but we would have missed some of the most beautiful places without one. Public transport is available but didn't look that frequent. Having visited quite a few of the towns, I would say Castara is the best choice if you want friendly locals, a beautiful beach, choice of local restaurants. If you prefer it a bit more busy then nearer Scarborough might be better but we were happy we chose Castara and Carpe Diem villas and would definitely stay there again.

About the neighbourhood
Castara is a small friendly working fishing village on the Caribbean side of Tobago & on the edge of the Rain forest. We have 2 sandy beaches, a waterfall, forest walks & several small shops, bars & restaurants all within a short walk. Castara is centrally located so it is easy to take day trips to places such as Englishman's bay, Charlottesville & Speyside. Either drive yourself or hire a car & driver for the day Or take a Boat tour that includes snorkelling, beach BBQ & swim in the famous Nylon Pool-its a great day out & something that we do on a regular bases! Englishman's bay-if you walk is approx 1.10mins away. Go there for lunch at Miss Eula's -do visit - the scenery is breathtaking!
Getting around
Everything in the village is just a short walk away. You can choose to rent a car for all or part of your stay or why not hire a driver & car for a day or half day. That way you can sit back, watch the scenery & get local information on the places that you visit...!

How to get there
European flights can be found with British Airways or Condor from Frankfurt. International flights BA, American airlines & Caribbean Airlines fly into Piarco, Port of Spain Trinidad. There is an inter island service called the Air bridge-20 minute flight from Piarco (POS) into Crown Point Tobago. It flies back & forth all day from early morning until about 10pm. There is also a ferry service with daily fast & slow ferries into Scarborough from Port of Spain itself. We recommend you use the Air Bridge as the ferry can get delayed because of sea conditions. We are a 45mins drive from the airport. After a long flight we do recommend that you ask us to organise a cab from the village to pick you up on your behalf
