Villa Azurra is a stunning villa beautifully designed to give lake views from every bedroom and almost every room. Set in an old olive grove, with a private solar heated infinity pool, it overlooks Lake Trasimeno, on the Umbria/Tuscany border. Perhaps the most special part of the villa is the loggia - for lazing, dining, or having an aperitivo whilst watching the sun set behind Polvese Island. It is just a five minute walk down to the lake and various bars and restaurants, and the village itself is also walkable, or just a couple of minutes in the car; here you will find everything you need, bank, post office, chemist etc, plus more bars and eateries, plus the ferry to the islands and a scooter hire centre. In Tuscany you can visit Cortona, Montepulciano, Siena and even Florence. The lake offers swimming, boating, fishing and windsurfing. If you are feeling lazy, the local bar provides excellent take-away meals, or you can use the barbecue at the villa, perhaps even indulge in a game of table tennis. The villa is ideal for families, there is limited wheelchair access - please discuss with the owner. NB The base rate is a guide only - as there are both cheaper and more expensive periods, so please see seasonal rates.More

About the neighbourhood
Lake Trasimeno is located in the centre of Italy, between Umbria and Tuscany. This is the ’green heart of Italy’ - a land of verdant wild flower valleys and patchwork wooded hills interspersed with sunflower fields, olive groves, vineyards and lakes. With Florence to the north, and Rome the south, Siena to the west, and Perugia the east, the area around Lago Trasimeno includes lovely hilltop villages, and ancient lakeshore towns. The lake itself is the fourth biggest in Italy, with three islands and several beaches – it is also one of the cleanest in Italy. As well as swimming and pedalo-ing, you can windsurf on the lake, or take a ferry from San Felicano (or Tuoro or Passignano, or Castiglione del Lago) over to the islands.
Getting around
Now to Tuscany, and just half an hour away you will find Cortona - the beautiful Etruscan town, featured in Frances Mayes' book 'Under The Tuscan Sun', and the film of the same name. Set on a hilltop, surrounded by its ancient walls, and topped off by the ruined fortress, it is famous for its glorious views over the Val di Chiana and Lago di Trasimeno. 23km You may also want to visit Montepulciano and Siena 53km and 70km respectively. Here are the approximate distances of some other places you may wish to visit in Umbria and Tuscany:- Arezzo 43km, Cascata delle Marmore 110km, Florence 146km, Gubbio 71km, Orvieto 115km, Rome 142km, Spoleto 82km, Todi 57km.
