The village of Fulbourn has several shops and pubs/restaurants. It is within easy reach of the university town of Cambridge. Buses leave from outside the Old Chapel every 30 minutes taking you to the railway station, city center and Addenbrooke's hospital. Two Park and Rides are near by and efficient taxi firms are available. The land for the chapel was originally purchased for 10 shillings in July 1855 on behalf of “a society of Protestant Dissenters of Denomination of Particular Calvinist Baptists”. Though it hasn't been active as a place of worship since1923, there are still a handfull of gravestones from the 1860s in the wood behind the chapel. These add to the charm of the place and don't in any way detract from the welcoming feeling you get when you step inside. There is a large garden with orchard to enjoy relaxing outside. Barbecue and picnic essentials available for your use. One bike is supplied and further bikes can be hired easily in Cambridge. More

Great location, interesting history to the place and excellent hosts. This is the thinking persons type of venue, not for the hot-polloi and all the better for that!

I stayed with children aged 5 and 7, who loved the garden and, of course, the chickens. Denis and Ruth were extremely kind and patient, letting the children feed the chickens and collect eggs. The cottage has a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere, and despite the chilly...More

Additional amenities & feature info
The double sofa bed in the sitting room allows for another couple to stay if necessary, though we would not recommend anyone plans to stay on the sofa for a prolonged period!. There is also an extra single mattress in the little bedroom. This can suit two small children who can then share this room--however it is pretty small. We now have a brand new central heating boiler to keep the Old Chapel cosy in winter and provide lashings of hot water. The bathroom has been newly refurbished with a brand new shower.

About the neighbourhood
The village of Fulbourn is mentioned in the Doomsday book and still has many ancient buildings. The village centre is only a few minutes walk away and has good pubs (all serving food) and local shops. The butcher and greengrocer sell excellent local produce. Cambridge University, only 5 miles away, is one of the oldest and most famous universities in the world. The city of Cambridge also has a good selection of shops and attractive parks and walks along the river Cam. Punting on the river is a traditional way to spend warm summer afternoons. Cambridge is famous for its cycling and we provide 2 bicycles which you can use to travel to and around the city. The Imperial War Museum and Duxford is a great day out where you can go round and even inside the aircraft. A visit to the city of El...
