Holiday Rental House
The Space of Fig Tree Villa, The house is an old house that I had renovated around 3 years ago, and I am constantly improving and adding or changing things to make it better and more suitable. The house is absolutely loved by children as the hidden spaces gives them the idea that they are princes or princesses. The Fig Tree Villa has 2 seperate bedrooms, 1 with a double bed, and one with a bunk bed. The living room has 2 high raised wooden handcarved platform on which a double and a single matress are placed. This is not suitable for less mobile and flexible people. Both these beds are reachable through it's own stairs, and have a seperation and curtains in front of it for privacy. The floor, the wooden ceiling, the arch and the platforms (pataras) are the most typical features of an original Greek, Koskinou house. I have added a sky light for more light and therefore more joy. I chose for this house for a lot of colors on a white basis. Reachable through the courtyard are the kitchen and the bathroom, both basic but complete and sufficient. the courtyard can also be used for morning breakfast, but just outside of the house, the car free street is used often to have breakfast in the midst of a greek neighborhood. The most magnificent part of the house is the floor in the living room. It is called chochlakia, and was made in the 19th century, long after the house was built. The pebbles for this floor, all had to have the same size, and were hand picked from the beach, then taken to the house with a donkey, and then hand laid stone for stone in the wonderful mosaic pattern that you can see on the pictures. The house is located in a residential area, but has no touching neighbors on both sides. The old village of Koskinou remained undiscovered by the majority of tourists, and therefor left unspoiled and authentic. The village has all one would need for a perfect holiday, 3 butchers, some super markets, a creperie, 1 bar, 2 snack bars and 5 really great restaurants, where people know us, and take good care of our guests. I booked the house through Gudrun and it was easy. The house was amazing and spotlessly clean. The hire car was waiting for me as arranged with Gudrun and the welcome pack had everything we needed and more. The only thing I could have done...More

About the neighbourhood
The area of the Fig Tree Villa is as the name is translated in GreeK: cliff. it lies on the cliff area at the side of the village. Gremos house has no touching direct neighbors as the houses are inhabited and so one has a lot of privacy. It is not possible to drive exactly in front of the doorstep, but a bit further one can park the car, and walk the stairs down to the house. In front of the house is a grass field and one can kick a ball or 2. The neighborhood is very friendly and the people around the house, always like to see the house rented as they still have the old attitude to welcome strangers and to exchange a friendly good morning.
How to get there
If you just come out of the airport you turn left direction Rhodes/Faliraki?Lindos. Then at the traffic lights you turn to the right towards Faliraki/Lindos/rhodes. You drive all the way until the total end and then at the traffic lights you turn left towards Rhodes. After a short while there is a sign writing Koskinou (the first real exit), there you turn to the right to go to Koskinou. You follow the curvy road all the way up until the end (you pass a kiosk on the right hand side and on the left you pass by a small supermarket and the Ice cream shop called dolce di villagio). Here at the end you come onto a T-split (like a small roundabout), there you turn left. At the end you pass the stadium which is on the left and you see a big stone wall, which is of the school square, you also le...
