Holiday Rental House
Charming Victorian house with panoramic views, sun-trap terrace and an acre of grounds. The detached house sleeps 7 comfortably (8 at a push) + cot. Perranwell is a quaint Cornish village midway between Falmouth and the Cathedral city of Truro (less than 10 minutes to each), central to an array of beaches (Loe, Gyllanvase, Castle, St Agnes, Perranporth) and activities (stunning walks, gardens, riding, golf, theme & animal parks, watersports, surfing, riding, sea kayaking, coasteering). The village has a well-stocked shop with fresh daily Cornish pasties, post office, a pub with some of the best grub around and a cute mini-spa for beauty treatments. The detached house sleeps 7 comfortably (8 at a push) + cot. The village has a well-stocked shop with fresh daily Cornish pasties, post office, a pub with some of the best grub around and a cute mini-spa for beauty treatments. Well established gardens on all four sides of the house adds to a deep sense of rural peace, yet you're just minutes away from Southwest Cornwall's myriad attractions (Eden, Tate St Ives, Pendennis Castle, Trellisick Gardens). Packed with original features (window seats, fireplaces, stripped original floorboards) and decorated in a period style. A large well stocked country kitchen-diner with space for entertaining eight with separate larder and laundry room. Large drawing room with a more formal dining space and a cosy living room (DVD library, books, wii, board games, fire). A curved Victorian staircase with central chandelier leads to four upstairs bedrooms (two doubles, one twin and a single/small double), one bathroom with roll-top bath/claw feet (and stellar view) and a walk-in shower room with waterfall shower and a separate loo. Cornwall's capital, Truro, is only 10 minutes' drive (5 miles) with its imposing Cathedral, shops, bars, restaurants and cinema. There is also a branch line train which stops in the village should you wish to leave the car at home. The port of Falmouth (5 miles), again with train connections, is home to the Maritime museum, Pendennis Castle, fishing trips, three beautiful beaches and Rick Stein's Fish restaurant. Mylor Harbour for sailing is less than 10 minutes drive away (4 miles). The renowned Pandora Inn with its Gold Olympic post box in honour of local boy Ben Ainslie and thatched roof is an excellent spot for a glass of Pinot and a pint of prawns. With crabbing off the pontoon and stunning riverside views this heavenly spot is around an eight-minute drive. Introduce little ones to furry friends at the National Seal Sanctuary at Gweek, take a boat trip across to the Roseland Peninsular on the King Harry Ferry, soak up some artistic charm in St Ives with a trip to the Tate and Barbara Hepworth Sculpture Garden, or watch a play at the open-air Minack Theatre carved into the granite cliff overlooking the spectacular panorama of Porthcurno Bay. Coast/Beach The choice of beaches is endless. Nearest at just 3 miles is Loe with its watersports centre and beachside café. Whether you wish to hire a kayak, learn to sail or simply enjoy the vista, this 'locals' secret' beach is a gorgeous spot. Falmouth's three beaches are perfect for white sand and rock pooling (5 miles). Cockling fans will prefer Helford Passage (9 miles), whereas surfers may choose to head to rugged North Coast treasures such as St Agnes (9 miles) & Perranporth (20 miles). Golf 5-10 minutes' drive to one of Cornwall's finest 18-hole golf clubs (Killiow). Truro Golf Club is another close-by option, or for sea views while you putt try Perranporth (20 miles). Special Interest Holidays From walking, surfing, coasteering, sailing, fishing, and riding to exploring gardens and houses, learning upholstery or painting there is something for everyone close to Perranwell. Gardens & Heritage: Trelissick is just 5 minutes away with 30 acres of elevated gardens with views over the River Fal. Endless trails, a renowned art gallery, book shop and Crofters Cafe make this a perfect visit for all. Lose yourself in the three valleys of another National Trust at Glendurgan Garden (20 mins). With subtropical plants and views of the Helford River and maze. Or Trebah, also overlooking Helford with over 4 miles of footpaths in subtropical paradise. Explore the amazing island world of St Michael's mount, crossing the causeway to absorb more than a thousand years of incredible history or explore Eden, a unique living theatre of plants and people. Little ones: There are endless choices for littler ones, should the rock-pooling, cockling and crabbing tire. Cornwall's leading family theme park Flambards is just 20 minutes away with its rides, adventure and Britain in the Blitz exhibition. For animal lovers visit the Seal Sanctuary at Gweek, the only operational seal rescue center in Cornwall, or meet the Jersey Herd at the working organic farm of Roskillys where the award winning ice-cream is made (and tasted!). Pretend to be a knight at one of many castles (Pedennis, St Mawes) or take a trip down a mine (with or without Ghost tour!). The house is very well equipped for children (we have two of our own), with a cupboard full of games, a dressing up box, high chair, travel cot (no extra cost but please bring your own sheets), plastic cutlery and bowls / plates and cutlery and two buggies (one is Quinny) so you don't have to travel with them. There's also a mud kitchen in the garden and endless opportunities for hide and seek. The property: Bedrooms Bedroom 1 and 2: Both doubles. With large bay windows bathed with light, Victorian fireplaces & panoramic views Bedroom 3: Twin, pretty floral overlooking garden Bedroom 4: Small antique double (4 foot) to sleep 1, or 2 very friendly or smaller people.
