Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

A luxurious sanctuary in the Wolds
Craven Cottage made our Christmas truly a magical family memory. From the minute we arrived the welcome was superlative. Christmas tree, box of chocolates, fizz tea coffee hot chocolate with biscuits , logs for the fire . The beds are crazy comfy fluffy lovely pillows and duvets covered in very smart William Morris design covers. No expense has been spared to make this rustic home feel sumptuous with well equipped kitchen and games and books. The situation is beautiful views are worth taking a decent camera . Such a beautiful part of the world plenty of walks and decent pubs can recommend The Trout Pub's steak pie !! This was the best home we have ever rented and that includes our visits to France. The owners are a delight nothing is too much trouble. We were lucky enough to meet them the pictures don't do it justice as the ambiant feel as soon as you enter this cottage is a great relief from the modern world. Heavenly.

Disappointed definitely not worth the money
This is an honest review. Please do not be fooled by 4 ticks. Which we took as 4 star. I have stayed in better 3 star cottages. On arriving at the cottage we did agree the garden is very pretty. A haven for wildlife. It does not mention it actually backs onto a lane. You can hear the traffic whilst in the garden. It's not heavy but it is there. On entering the property the porch is in need of a sweep. Kitchen was clean and tidy although the roller blind was filthy. No wonder it was left up. 1 bulb not working. Grill pan hadn't been cleaned in a long time. The owners left us a welcome pack, which is very nice but when it's costing £100 a night it's what one should expect. The lounge was tatty. Curtains hanging off curtain pole. Footstool filthy. Why have fabric surely leather so it dosent show the marks. It was cream as well. It has a game console but no batteries. Mirrors were smeared. Too be honest didn't really like seating on sofas. Dining area. Nails sticking out of wall, where pictures obviously hung once. Windows haven't been cleaned for some time. Carpets are frayed around edges. Mat in lounge, dirty. Upstairs what a shock one of the bed duvet cover was off colour hasn't seen a iron in months,so creased. Not inviting at all. Rubbish left under the bed,so not been hoovered. Bathroom light above sink not working, rads are rusty. Towels have stains. I could go on. I complained,I was relayed a message by sykes I should of phoned the owners. So your telling me. They would of come fully equipped with new blind ,stool.duvet towels hoover in hand. Plus a ladder to do the curtains, bulbs batteries. Paint brush. I don't think so. Quick enough to take our money though. No opolgy was given. Total waste of our money. We went by sykes giving it such good reviews. Strange how no comments since March 24. Don't be fooled by the garden.

Cosy stay at Craven Cottage
Lovely cottage in a rural setting, well equipped and cosy.
Had a great week with excellent walks close by and especially on the coast.
