Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Birthday party in a beautiful house
We were 8 people + 2 small children in this lovingly furnished house. We immediately felt comfortable. Everything was clean and for our reception prepared. Paul the host and builder of the house had even taken care of the first breakfast and celebration at the Rostrevor Inn pub. He is also very knowledgeable about the area. This is the ideal vacation spot for a larger group. Gerd Pollee, Halle/S. Germany

Hello Gerd, Thanks for the nice review on Crotlieve. You and your family were great guests and it was my pleasure to arrange the restaurant and music at Rostrevor Inn for your birthday celebrations. I enjoyed taking you all on my tree trail around the ancient trees of Kilbroney Meadow and your daughter was very knowledgeable on the native plants. Perhaps we will see you again sometime. Best regards Paul Crotlieve Barn Rostrevor.

Crotlieve Barn, Rostrevor
My husband and I stayed in Crotlieve with family members for the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the accommodation and surroundings. The barn is warm, spacious and very comfortably furnished. It was spotlessly clean and well equipped..The barn opens onto an extensive decking area, perfect for meals and enjoying the views over Carlingford Lough towards the Cooley Mountains. Our host met us on arrival to talk to us about the house and is very knowledgeable about the area, its history, places to visit, plants and animals. He provided us with details of many of the waking trails in the area.

Crotlieve barn holiday
Stayed here from 7th to 14th September 2020.Owner Paul is a great guy extremely helpful and friendly. When I told him I was finding it difficult to hire a mountain bike anywhere locally because of covid he comes up with one the next day. Having cycled much around the area on road and mountain bike I would highly recommend a trip to Castlewellan forest park for fun on mountain bike trails. Kayaking on lake and walks around lake. Crotlieve barn is a wonderful place to base yourself in this area to enjoy the many attractions and sights nearby.I will be back.

The location is amazing from the barn looking down the valley to the lake. Good starting point if you love to walk as the trails near by. You will need a car as the towns are about 5 minute drive. The owner is a great person with a fantastic knowledge of the area, an hour and a bit by car and you in south ireland or belfast, the barn is fantastic lots of place.

Peaceful haven
Wow loved this place. We're a country couple and this place didn't disapoint loved. My husband is from NI and we were here for a wedding in Newcastle which is about 25 mins away, I am choosy where I stay and this accomodation was the nearest that sounded good, as it was half term in England and so Newcastle was a sell out, so glad. This is a spacious property with lots and lots of homely features and plenty of outdoor space. We went with our son, his wife & 2 children loads of room. Paul & Alison have made a real home for home - or better. There is every mod con you need, dishwasher, washing machine etc etc The internet was quite good too to say you are in the countryside. The weather was awful while we were there but found breaks in it to visit Newcastle, up to the beautiful village of Scarva near Banbridge, Rostrevor etc etc. On our last night we asked if it was ok to have relatives round and have a bbq which we did, we couldn't start the gas bbq and Paul was there straight away to help us, our relative were very impressed. I liked having owners on site, they are not intrusive but very helpful, Pauls visit on our 1st night made us feel very welcome. Alison & Paul should be very proud of what they have created here I can't say enough positives about it. Absolutely charming. If we come over with family, won't hesitate to stop here again. And as a last thing we never had the TV on. Thank you for a wonderful home for a few days.

Wonderful facilities and location - highly recommended
We stayed, a group of four couples, over new year's eve and were all delighted with the barn. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and fresh. We were totally self-catering and everything we required was supplied. The location is absolutely beautiful and so peaceful. Paul, the owner, was very helpful with suggestions of places to visit and we did take him up on some of these. Some of us do definitely plan to return at some point in the future. I have no hesitation is recommending this beautiful home.
