Built approximately 200 years ago, our detached stone gite is located in the quiet and secluded commune of St Junien la Bregere in Creuse. It's ideal for a relaxing, rural break and is perfect for walking holidays, with beautiful scenery right on your doorstep. The gite is perfect for two, with one en suite bedroom with a double bed. We're happy to welcome up to two dogs to our property, we just ask that you bring their usual bedding with them. The cottage has a delightful secluded garden and a large gravelled area to the front, providing a terrace as well as ample car parking. If you need to get into town, we're half way between Bourganeuf in Creuse and Peyrat le Chateau in Haute Vienne, both about 15 to 20 minutes by car on the D940. We're also on the pilgrim route of St Jacques, which runs through to Compostelle in Spain. Still interested? Here are some further details ...The cottage has been completely renovated and retains many of its original features, combining traditional French living with modern comforts. There is electric heating throughout. Set on two floors, the cottage opens into the dual-aspect kitchen, complete with a washing machine and fridge freezer, plus dining and living areas. The dining table seats four and there's a sofa and armchairs to relax in whilst reading or watching tv. On the first floor there's a spacious bedroom, with a double bed, chest of drawers and hanging space, plus an en suite shower room with wc and wash basin. There is plenty of space for a travel cot, although please note that we cannot provide cots. Bedlinen, towels and tea towels are provided and included in the price. Electricity is charged in addition in euros, at cost. Outside, there's a gravelled area to the front, providing a terrace as well as ample off-street car parking. There is a private, secluded garden to the side, complete with summer Jacuzzi, that overlooks open fields and is for the sole use of the cottage. The Jacuzzi is available during July and August.More

About the neighbourhood
Montayaud is on ancient pilgrim route, la Route de Compostelle, which runs south to the medieval walled city of Rocamadour in Corrèze. Within the local area, the greatest attraction is undoubtedly Lac de Vassivière, about 20 minutes away by car. The smaller lakes of St Hélène (at Bujaleuf) and St Julien le Petit are also nearby. There is a golf course in Bourganeuf, and a tennis court is available for hire in St Junien la Brégère. Depending on the season, fishing is available nearby at St Julien le Petit - you can buy a day fishing permit at the local Post Office. For shopping, Bourganeuf and Peyrat-le-Chateau are both about five miles away, with the usual amenities including cafés, restaurants, banks and post offices.
Getting around
We're in rural France, so a car is essential. Trains run from nearby Eymoutiers into Limoges, if you fancy hitting the city for the day!
