Everything! Really modern, clean homes with every facility you could wish for. Beautiful, peaceful site with amazing views. The use of a swimming pool, sauna and gym which are never overcrowded. Many times we've had the pool to ourselves. The staff are all friendly and make you feel welcome and nothing is too much trouble. Finally, Talland Bay itself has two really good cafes, and beach all within walking distance.Great value for money too."

Pleasant location but massively overpriced property
Stunning view from the house, so no complaints there, and the site (fourth visit to the complex in all) is great with friendly staff and good facilities. So why the 2 star review? This house is advertised as "5 star" when it simply isn't. The pictures used in the adverts all appear to be from the early days of the rental, and many elements of the furniture etc have no been replaced with much cheaper alternatives on a piece by piece basis. So rather than the classic and luxury look used in the photos, we have two old armchairs, a strange gamer style beanbag thing, two turquoise beanbags, 5 turquoise stools and what must be the most uncomfortable orange leather sofa ever made. Same sort of thing with the crockery and glassware etc, lots of different mismatched bits and pieces, just as you'd expect when someone is aiming to do the minimum. Appliances also a problem. Unlike the photos, there is a now a big blue free standing fridge to replace the built in version. There is a wine fridge (yay) but it has been installed incorrectly (no ventilation) so it actually gets hot rather than cooler, to the point where you couldn't put your hand on the side of it because it was so hot. A fridge..... Outside, all of the nice wooden furniture in the photos has been replaced with cheap plastic stuff that you'd get from B&Q. Again, hardly 5 star luxury. Interesting that the review from 2018 said that the lock on the en-suite didn't work. 4 years later, it still doesn't. Other maintenance things we got sorted out in the first few days: a decking board had sprung and was a trip hazard just outside the door, and a radiator was hanging off the wall. there were other small things, but we got fed up being the people who had to report things to the staff, so we gave up. There is a space outside the southern bedrooms that is being used to store junk, old bin, rabbit hutch, rusting chairs etc. So that was what we saw when we opened the curtains on that side: a rubbish dump. This house (36) is being rented at a premium compared to an identical house next door (35). That house appears to be refurbished, and stylish, with new aluminium and glass furniture outside and no rubbish dump outside the windows. It's really hard to see why this owner believes that their property is deserving of a premium, or why a more realistic set of photos could not be used. In all, there is nothing wrong with this place as a holiday home. It's mostly fine and a lot of the issues listed here are pretty trivial. It's the fact that this place is being advertised as "5 Star" that really creates a problem. It isn't, and it is hugely overpriced in my view. In summary, I'd recommend The Bay, Talland, and I'd certainly say that House 35 is a good choice, given the price and the view. But this one? No.

Perfect Break Away
We have just returned from a week in this property. I was a little hesitant about booking having read the previous review so I contacted The Bay, who spoke to the owner and assured me everything was sorted, and it was …although the lock to en-suite still wasn’t working… but hardly an issue as I rarely lock the door at home anyway and my wife know when the bathroom is a no go zone ;-) For the 1st few nights there was 4 adults, 3 Children under 10 and an infant in a travel cot. No space issues what so ever. Yes the pull-out bed takes up the floor in the children’s bedroom so we had to move the bed- side table out, but not one of the kids had an issue. Great property. AMAZING views from the main room and the kids could just run outside and play. I would definitely recommend. My only small criticisms were the TV… way too small for a room that size, but the view out of the patio doors kind of made up for that, and yes they need a new frying pan…. It’s not flat and the cooker is electric so getting the bacon crispy took some time ;-)

The devils in the detail.
Let me start by saying that "The Bay Talland" as a place is excellent and the staff on site are fantastic. The shared pool is big, warm and in our experience at the busiest time of the year it rarely had more than 5 people in it, the outside pool is purely for the brave and with that I mean children, never saw an adult go near it. From the sight you can walk down to the (turn right) Bay and if you go left to Looe, both of which are very steep in places and not for anyone who struggles to walk. At night the site is pin drop silent, you barely even hear the sea. So as a place its fantastic, but, and there is a but, for the price of the week which for us was just slightly over £2000 it just isn't worth it, the photos do the house justice but it is tired, and as I stated in the title the devil is surely in the detail. The website states "The home is equipped to luxury 5 star rental standards" and "The house is finished to a high specification" and on first viewing this could be true, its also says it sleeps 7. my problem with these things is they just dont stack up, for starters the high specification was blown out of the water with the fact that 1. 2 of the chairs to the dining table we so suspect we couldn't sit on them 2. The bath panel in the main bathroom has mold and shoddy sealant all down the top of it. 3. The main bathroom door is blown at the bottom and just looks unsightly 4. The lock for the on-suite doesn't work 5. The frying pan was warped (i know this seems mean but straw camel etc) 6. It’s says sleep 7 but there wasn't 7 of everything 7. The trundle bed had no pillow or quilt (this said the site sorted this very quickly) but we'd been in the car for 8.5hrs and it should have been done. We also had to move furniture out of the 3 bed room into the hallway as there was no room for it once the trundle bed was out, which much to annoyance of my son everyone had to walk over to get into their bed! The kitchen is nice enough but far from what I would call 5* and for house that sleeps 7 I would expect at least a double fridge, there was 6 of us including 4 children and we could only keep a maximum of 2 days in it!. Im not usually this picky and honestly the kids loved every minute of it, it’s just for not too much more I could have gone to say Cyprus all-inclusive 4* and that is what I would get. So in closing I would highly recommend “the Bay Talland site” but at the prices quoted I would not recommend House 36, it’s just not the 5* its states.
