The villa La Piccada is located in St Jeannet, just 25 minutes from Nice Airport and within easy reach of the A8 motorway. St Jeannet is a discreet medieval village once loved by artists such as Chagall, Dufy and Matisse, where many contemporary artists still choose to live, drawn no doubt by the Baou, the distinctive mountain under which the village nestles. St Jeannet even played a part in Alfred Hitchcock's 1955 caper To Catch A Thief, in which the Baou provides a dramatic backdrop to Grace Kelly and Cary Grant's blossoming romance.

St Jeannet even played a part in Alfred Hitchcock's 1955 caper To Catch A Thief, in which the Baou provides a dramatic backdrop to Grace Kelly and Cary Grant's blossoming romance.
La Piccada comprises four bedrooms and two bathrooms, with two additional beds available if required. All bedrooms are sunny and light with glorious south-facing views. There is a spacious swimming pool, a pool house equipped with both a gas and a charcoal barbecue, several sunny terraces and a garden with orange, fig and persimmon trees, which guests are naturally welcome to enjoy when in season.
On the top floor you'll find the Terrace Room, a large double bedroom with twin beds (90 x 200) and a private terrace. Adjacent is the retro bathroom with original flamboyant fittings and a separate WC. Next comes the Versailles Room, fit for a king – the original owner had extravagant tastes and subsequent owners haven't had the heart to change them – guests think they make La Piccada unique and add a sense of fun.
Downstairs you'll find a spacious living and dining room with beams and a log fire, and beyond that is the well-equipped kitchen and a conservatory room. There are two further bedrooms, The White Room and The Garden Room, which has French windows leading out to the garden and the newly-completed sun terrace, which leads to the pool. All beds except for the Terrace room are 140 x 200cm. The bathroom on this floor is newly equipped with a shower and modern fittings. There is unlimited free WiFi access throughout the property. For younger visitors there is a high chair and a cot, as well as protective gates for all doors which lead out to the pool. We have two extra beds if required.
La Piccada is ideally situated for groups of cyclists, hikers and climbers, with plenty of storage space in the garage for bikes and outdoor equipment.
The price quoted includes everything: electricity, water, bed linen, towels and cleaning, and you'll also be equipped with loo rolls, dishwasher tablets and detergents, so that you've really got nothing to worry about and there'll be no nasty surprises.
We require a 25% non-refundable deposit on booking with the balance to be paid four weeks prior to arrival. We also require a 500 Euro (450 British pounds) security deposit to cover any damage, which will be refunded (all being well) at the end of your stay. This can be given to us in cash upon your arrival.
Our changeover day is Saturday. We require that departing tenants leave by 10:00 and that incoming tenants arrive no earlier than 16:00 to allow for a thorough cleaning.
As for us, we're English, we're next door, and we're here to help, but you're equally welcome to ignore us if you prefer!

We live right next door so are on hand should you need us, but we also respect your privacy. We like to welcome you personally, show you the villa and offer any tips or advice to make your stay more enjoyable. We also keep an extensive notebook in the villa with info and suggestions. We take care to make up the rooms as you wish, so you have nothing to worry about apart from unpacking and that first dip in the pool!

How does one find words that adequately describe this wonderful place to spend a holiday in 'la belle France'? From the moment our party arrived - all nine of us - we fell under the spell of the location, the house and, most of all,...More
La Piccada is a great base for a holiday, especially for a group of adults. A very pleasant and well equipped villa, with a wonderful outlook across a wooded valley. There are some steep and narrow roads in the area, so bring a small car...More

La Piccada is a ten minute (uphill) walk to St Jeannet village, where there are two bakeries (one of which award-winning), two excellent restaurants, a terrific pizza place, a popular bar/café with panoramic views, a post office, a newsagent's that stocks some English books and newspapers, a pharmacy and two food shops selling local produce, freshly-prepared dishes and delicatessen-style products. St Jeannet also has one of the last independent vineyards in the region, which produces white, rosé and red wines. Below St Jeannet village itself is the area known as Le Peyron, where there's a supermarket, two bakeries, a pharmacy, a Thai restaurant, a newsagent's and a bank.
Most of our guests hire cars (or drive their own) and that's definitely the easiest way to get around. There are two buses from the village, however, one that goes to Vence and the other that heads to the coast, and the shopping centre Cap 3000. We provide bus timetables.
