Charming 16th century, detached cottage, between Beer and Branscombe

Picket Mead, with its beamed ceilings and wood burning stove, is a traditional 16th century cottage which has recently been sympathetically restored and modernised.

It is situated adjacent to the church in the rural village of Southleigh, which is in an area of outstanding beauty, just ten minutes drive from Beer and Branscombe and 20 minutes from Sidmouth and Lyme Regis.

Besides leaflets on places to visit and inns serving good food, there are booklets and maps highlighting lovely local and cliff top walks.

The cottage is set in a lovely valley, overlooking the church. It is surrounded by farmland, although the coast is only a few miles away along country lanes. The cottage is quietly situated adjacent to the church in the village of Southleigh, but is in easy reach of various seaside villages and resorts and cliff top walks. Southleigh is a pretty and small village in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

The cottage is owner managed with the owner always there to greet guests on arrival and give all the information she can.

The cottage has much character with lots of beams. As the cottage is more than 250 years old downstairs doorways and the sitting room ceiling are inevitably quite low. As well as the log fire there are storage and space heaters.
