The Count House at Okel Tor Mine

Visited by Tripadvisor
Overview
Cottage -
1 Bedroom , 1 Bathroom , Sleeps 2
Calstock, Cornwall, England
Unusual romantic retreats for 2 people - offering peace, tranquility and beautiful elevated views across the River Tamar. Ideal for honeymoons, wedding anniversaries (especially 10th which is 'Tin'!), birthdays or just as a cosy hideaway to get away from it all. You will feel like you are miles away from anywhere, yet the village of Calstock is only a short 10/15 minute walk along the river bank - this quaint Cornish village has a shop open from 8am to 8pm, two pubs which serve food, an art gallery, and branch line railway station with regular services to Plymouth. The National Trust's enchanting Cotehele House is also within walking distance and the Tamar Valley Discovery Trail actually passes through Okel Tor. Dartmoor, Bodmin Moor and the sandy beaches at Whitsand Bay on the south coast are just a short drive away.

Peace, quiet, the views and location perfect. For anyone wanting a relaxing break it's ideal. A short walk to the local village on the picturesque Tamar river and explore the ruins of the old tin mine.

We visited all the country houses, mines, cliff walks, restaurant pubs, bridal-path walks, Dartmoor walks in the area and really appreciated the Count Hours as our base, especially on those days sitting on the deck reading looking over the valley.

We're delighted that you enjoyed your two weeks in this wonderful part of the country. You certainly crammed a lot in - and still had plenty of time to relax and read. The Count House library has many new books in its collection. Thank you!
