Apartment Cerise is a ground floor apartment and has 2 bedrooms ( 1 with large double bed & 1 with 2 single beds ). There is also a comfortable sofa bed in the living Room . Although not specifically adapted for wheelchair users it is quite suitable because of the large amount of floor space - 93 sq. metres . The apartment is located in the La Bastide des Lavandières which is located in the small village of Canaules. In total there are 6 apartments in our building . The village of Canaules is in the foothills of the Cevennes and near the towns of Alés , Nîmes and Anduze. Originally built in the mid-19th century, la Bastide, has previously been used as a small hotel as well as a café and a night club. Following extensive renovations this wonderfully preserved stone building has now been converted into six apartments with private off-road parking & large swimming pool. The six large apartments in La Bastide des Lavandieres have been completed & furnished to a high standard. Bedrooms: 1 Double Bedroom, 1 Twin Bedroom. Also full size sofa bed in the living room. Bathrooms: 2 Shower rooms en-suite, 1 Separate WC. Kitchen: Oven, Hob, Microwave, Fridge-Freezer, Dishwasher, Washing machine . There is also a clothes drier located in the communal area of the building. House Linen & towels are provided as part of your rental. All apartments have either a balcony / terrace / reserved seating area for eating outdoors Central Heating. There is no air-conditioning required as the walls are stone & 1 metre thick. Because of this the building stays cool in Summer & remains warm in the usually mild Winter months . Free WiFi internet , UK satellite TV channels & radio stations as well as digital French TV. There is also a Wii games console plus games for your entertainment. Outside we have a large 12m x 6m swimming pool with a shallow kids area, inflatable pool toys , sun loungers, tables, chairs & parasols. The pool area is fully fenced & gated to ensure child safety at all times. Our pool is open from early May until mid October. There is also a pool house with sun loungers , comfortable seating and games. The paved garden has a children’s play area as well as extra tables & chairs for dining outdoors either with family or other guests. Our large private car park has space for up to 5 cars. The village playground is located just across the road also. The little village of Canaules is located between the Camargue & the Cevennes hills. It is just a 15 minute drive from Anduze. Anduze is a thriving tourist town with a very good selection of restaurants and cafés. Also 15 minutes away are the picturesque medieval towns of Sauve and Vezenobres. Sommieres and Nimes are 30 minutes away and an hour’s drive will take you to Montpellier as well as the wonderful beaches of the Mediterranean. Our caretaker will be there to greet you on arrival and provide useful information during your stay. The Cevennes National Park is a wonderful natural playground with river swimming, kayaking, horse riding, hiking, climbing and canyoning. From Roman theatres and aqueducts to Medieval towns, there is a wealth of history and sight seeing locally. Food & Drink : Nearby you will find many small villages & towns which have an abundance of places restaurants and bars. From our lovelu local café the Troubadour Circus to the panoramic terrace of the Bossens in Sauve, there is a wide choice. The local markets are a wonderful place to buy the freshest of local fruit and vegetables, as well as the many farmer’s shacks which line the country roads around here. Wine is everywhere in the Languedoc and most vineyards nearby will welcome you for a wine tasting. Nearest Bar/Pub/Restaurant: Saint-jean-de-Serres - 2km , Nearest River Beach: Alés - 18km . Nearest Beach: Palavas - 60km - Nearest River 6km, nearest airport Nimes 50km, nearest port 100km We have an extensive range of baby & child equipment which is available Free-Of-Charge to guests.More

About the neighbourhood
Canaules is a typical French village - small but full of character . It is just a 15 minute drive to the lively tourist town of Anduze . It is close to a number of larger villages and small towns as well as numerous vineyards - many of which welcome visitors . Guests are very welcome to visit our friends the Plagne family at the nearby Domaine de la Vallière and also the Chardonnaud family at Domaine les Vieux Foudres . Both vineyards are delighted to welcome guests for tastings , tours etc . Nimes , Montpellier and Avignon are just 3 of the larger cities which are easily reached as well as the beaches on the coast or river swimming in the Cevennes. During Winter it is just a 90 minute drive to the closest ski slopes in the Cevennes.
Getting around
While there is a certain amount of public transport available nearby it is definitely recommended that you have your own transport . We are centrally located so there are many tourist sites and attractions within short driving distances so having your own car is advisable if you want to make the most of your stay .
