Perfect. Hosts, Accommodation, location and Alpacas
What a wonderful place. We have just spent a fabulous week in North Norfolk, staying at The Cart Lodge. The house is absolutely beautiful with thoughtful touches throughout. The hosts, Gill and Dave, met us on arrival and showed us around which was a lovely touch and made us feel very welcome. There was even a home made lemon drizzle cake, fresh farm eggs and milk and beautiful flowers to help us feel at home.
All the furnishings are tasteful, clean and well coordinated. The bed linens are beautiful and the beds, very comfy. The kitchen is well stocked, with everything you need to prepare wonderful meals. The bathrooms are gorgeous and the creams and shower gels smell divine. There is definitely sufficient space for a family of 6. The location is beautiful, only a short drive from the village and wonderful pub. The farm setting really adds something special to the holiday, and the alpacas, chickens and cat are just wonderful. What a treat to take them for a walk - - - do not miss this activity as they are such characters.
We explored the local area, including Sheringham and Brancaster beaches, Holkham Hall, Holt, Norfolk lavender, boat trip on the Broads and seals at Blakeney. It is such a pretty area with a lot of great activities for all the family.
We would definitely recommend The Cart Lodge at West Heath Barn for a wonderfully relaxing vacation. Give it a go. You will not be disappointed. Thanks so much to our wonderfully friendly hosts, Gill and Dave. You really went the extra mile to make this a very special holiday. Hope to see you soon.

A beautiful, comfortable, well-equipped, self-catering property
Situated a mile from Great Massingham and convenient for exploring West Norfolk and further afield, the Cartlodge at West Heath Barn is ideal for a relaxing holiday exploring Norfolk. There were only two of us, but with double and twin bedrooms it comfortably sleeps four (and our bed was extremely comfortable!). The kitchen is well equipped and the personal welcome was exceptional. The living area is large and comfortable with TV, DVD and Hi Fi. The rural location is beautiful and the courtyard with outdoor table and chairs was ideal for enjoying relaxing drinks during the warm summer evenings we enjoyed. BBQ facilities are available if required. It really couldn't have been better. There are excellent pubs / restaurants nearby, and the village post office and shop supplied all the provisions we needed. Highly recommended.

Another wonderful stay 💜
This was our second visit to the Cartlodge at West Heath Barn and we just love it! There are some great local pubs near by the dabbling duck is one of my favourites and the beaches are just beautiful. It is a great location If you like being out of the hustle and bustle but close enough to come and go.
The lodge itself is really well equipped, clean and just so homely. I could actually live there!! It’s pet friendly and there is a lovely enclosed field that the dogs can run around in. We also have a small child and Gill provided me with a cot and a high chair which was great.
We can not wait to return!
Thank you

Perfect!
I don’t think it could have been improved in anyway, it was just perfect. Beautiful location, fabulous accommodation, spotlessly clean and everything you could need to hand. Gill was a lovely host and made us so welcome. Even greeted us with mince pies and a bottle of bubbly, thank you so much!
The buildings and grounds are extremely well maintained and even in mid winter look great.
We met the alpacas’s who are absolutely gorgeous and so pretty.
It was truly a lovely Christmas, thank you Gill for allowing us to bring our dogs too. We will return and most definitely recommend The Cartlodge to family and friends.

Perfect place to stay!
We had a fantastic time at ‘The Cart Lodge’ over the Christmas holidays. Everything was perfect and we had all we needed. Not only did we love our stay there but also our 4 year old son and our two dogs!
Gill and Dave thoughts of everything and made our accommodation very homely and added a touch of Christmas. A touching welcome of a bottle of bubbles, mince pies and treats for the dogs.
A great place to stay with children and great walks for the dogs and an amazing enclosed dog run which our dogs loved!
Nothing was at fault but the only thing we regret was not being able to book for New Year as well! : )
Thoroughly recommend The Cart Lodge and very much look forward to visiting again soon.

A fabulous week... Simply perfect
We have just returned from a fantastic, relaxing break staying in the wonderful Cart Lodge at West Heath Barn.
The accommodation is lovely, extremely clean with absolutely everything you need to make your home from home stay stress free.
On arrival we were greeted by Gill and her husband Dave with warm home baked scones, jam and cream, simply delicious and just what you want regardless of your journey time! There is a great welcome pack with fresh bread, butter, milk, tea, coffee etc etc which coupled with everything you need in the kitchen and throughout ensures you settle in straight away.
The location and grounds are stunning. Our family enjoyed barbecues in the courtyard soaking up the sun, the boys loved playing in the fields but the 'highlight' of the holiday was meeting the friendly Alpacas! They are such characters... We all walked and fed them and each came away with our personal favourite.
We can't wait to return next summer and explore more of this lovely area and relax again at West Heath Barn.

So pleased you enjoyed your stay in The Cart Lodge and that you also loved the area and got to know Norfolk better. Hope to see you again next year - by then the alpacas will be even better behaved on their walkies and we'll be able to explore further afield on Peddars Way

We’re close to a wide range of attractions from walking or cycling on Peddars Way to the magnificent historic houses and country estates including Sandringham, Houghton Hall and Oxburgh Hall and more. The stunning Norfolk coast is less than 30 minutes drive away, offering 60+ miles of sandy beaches, marshlands and big skies. Birdwatchers are within easy reach of Snettisham and Titchwell bird reserves. Burnham Market and Holt offer chic retail therapy and the fabulous cities of Norwich and Cambridge are less than an hour away.

How to get there
West Heath Barn is less than a mile outside Great Massingham. Most of our guests do travel here by car (unless they are walking Peddars Way National Trail) and there is plenty of parking immediately beside the cottages. Should you wish to travel by train, the nearest mainline station is Kings Lynn (about a 15 minute taxi ride). There is a bus service from Great Massingham to the key towns that surround us (Swaffham, Kings Lynn and Fakenham) but do bear in mind we live in a beautiful rural area so public transport reflects that.
