Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.

Great stay.
Used to visit family in Sidmouth for a get together. Very peaceful location, very friendly and helpful owners who live in farm house close by. Lots of green space and some farm animals and pets for the little’uns to enjoy. Most enjoyable.

Relaxing and fun - just perfect!
We booked The Burrow for a summer break this year with the kids, and couldn't have been happier. It has a very quiet private feel, but also not isolated due to the hosts being nearby if we needed anything. We took our little dog with us, and felt very at home with him, feeling the dog was equally welcome. The hosts were lovely, and arranged for the kids to feed their friendly sheep and pig, which they loved. Great area for walking, and Sidmouth beach is only a 10 minute drive away. The cottage was very clean and beautifully presented. Would definitely come again.

A great family holiday
A great rural location but close to Sidmouth beach (20 minute drive) and although the property is next door to the owner/farmhouse, it is completely private with large garden. My kids loved the interaction with the pigs and got a tour of all the other animals which was much appreciated. The cottage is bright and airy and really comfortable, lots of space and good amenities. The drive up to the farm is along narrow lanes with few passing points, but the lanes are quiet and we only had to reverse 3 times for tractors in the whole week, but if you are nervous about driving on small lanes that could be something to consider. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend the Burrow if you are looking for a peaceful location but with good access to the beach.

Burrow-ing In For The Winter
The Burrow is a lovely rental offering all a family needs for a stay in the Devon countryside - we only wish we had been there in the summer to make full use of the outdoor tables and BBQ area. Inside you will find an all through lounge, diner, kitchen with very high ceilings, nice fittings and furnishings, and everything you will need a for a week or a short break. We especially liked having a child friendly cupboard full of plastic plates, bowls and beakers, plus the chest full of games and the selection of DVDs for our little one. He was also especially made up to find Llamas peering at him from across the courtyard out of the kitchen window in the mornings, and pigs to feed whenever we went to the car. A few steps take you down a hallway into three good sized bedrooms, two with double beds and one with twins. There is a family bathroom and an en-suite to the master, both with underfloor heating which was a boon on cold mornings. The bathrooms are particularly well appointed with rain showers and nice fittings. Outside there is space for two or more cars, and enough space to run about or relax in. Even though our hosts were just over the main driveway, they were not intrusive, but helpful when needed. Nearby Ottery has a large supermarket, shops, restaurants and take aways for anything you don't bring yourself, and there is lots to do on the doorstep. We found this place through Sawdays, and like many more places before, it didn't fail to live up to their standard of different, sometimes quirky, but always comfortable bolt holes.

Wonderful!
We stayed for 3 nights at The Burrow on our way along the South Coast, and wish we could have stayed for longer. Claire and family were amazing hosts, the house is lovely, and the area offers so much to do. The Burrow is part of a larger farmstead property set in the East Devon hills, with good walking, country pubs, and of course cosy narrow lanes all around. The house is beautifully designed, modern with great facilities, a lovely open dining/kitchen area and three good size rooms (one en-suite and one bathroom). Wifi was fast as well which was an added bonus. There's sizeable garden, plus outdoor seating, and the animals on the farm (dogs, cats, sheep, llama and the most amazing old-age pigs). Adults and Kids all loved it, thanks so much for the hospitality from all of us! :)

Beautiful hidden gem!
Beautiful holiday home in a stunning setting - perfect for exploring Devon I cannot recommend The Burrow highly enough (& I'm really fussy!!) it's beautifully designed with attention to detail in all the rooms giving a feeling of a five star hotel with all the added benefits of a home from home. It has everything you need for a family break or a romantic hideaway. Truly stunning, we look forward to returning - assuming we can get availablility as I'm sure it gets booked up fast!!

Lovely location
We stayed at the burrow with our 2 children, we had a fantastic week. We loved the quality of the interior of the burrow, the kitchen is very well equipped. The children loved visiting the animals and exploring the garden. A few good local pubs and lots to do nearby including Sidmouth, we visited during folk week so there was a lot going on. The owner was very helpful and friendly on arrival.
