Holiday Rental House
La Padronale (manor house) is a very pretty old renovated farmhouse set into the side of the most beautiful small valley in Italy. Nestled in unspoilt surrounds with nature all around (a nightingale serenades every evening) - there's an array of flowers with butterflies flitting over them, a small wood to wander through, olive tress and grape vines and terraces to sit on. Aperitifs on the East Terrace and dinner on the South Terrace under a sumptuous bower. Returning from a day out to Arezzo or Siena or Perugia or Assisi (the house is in the center for everywhere but hidden) you can relax by a crystal pool after a wonderful swim. The kitchen has everything a cook could want. Cool Carara Marble surfaces, french widows onto a divine terrace, old cotto ceilings and floors. Interaction with guests
Our overseer who looks after guests takes you on a tour on arrival. They will give you all sorts of ideas on things to do and visit. You are in the lap of restaurant land plus our wonderful Italian cook can come and prepare and serve you meals. Menus are provided. La Padronale is situated between two market towns; one in Umbria Città di Castello and the other in Tuscany; Sansepolcro. You drive though our local small town of Monterchi en route. There's a wealth of museums with famous art that make you real in disbelief, potteries, clothes shops galore, exquisite food shops with so many delectable things on sale. You can hire bikes, ride, go to the spa and also hire Bruno to come and give you one of his incredible healing massages.

My husband and I adored our stay at La Padronale. I shall never forget the first morning, standing at the open bedroom window, feeling a gentle breeze and taking in the breathtaking views of the Umbrian hills. I had forgotten what true peace and quiet...More

About the neighbourhood
The Upper Tiber Valley (called to because of the river Tiber that flows from here down to Rome) is a part of Italy of exceptional beauty. The wild life is phenomenal and the hill towns are quite extraordinay, transporting you back to Medieval times. You have the sea on each coast two hours away and Lake Trasimeno an hour away approx, Florence is 1 1/2 hrs away from Arezzo exit on A1, Arezzo is almost as fantastic as Florence yes not visited nearly as much. A highlight in the summer are the festivals of food (Sagra) which each village holds.
Getting around
The best way to get around is by car and then you can really explore the area and also pop to the shops in Lerchi or Citta di Castello. The nearest train station is Citta di Castello but Arezzo which is a 35 minute drive is better connected with direct trains to Florence that take an hour. You can even have an easy day or overnight trip to Bologna if you take the fast train 'Franciarossa' from Florence to Bologna. Or it's 2 hrs to Rome in the opposite direction from Arrezo.
