Had the best time
Absolutely amazing. What tranquil little paradise this is. The yurt has everything you need to relax and reset. Spotlessly clean & comfortable. Felt hypnotised with the camp fire, even cooked our baked potatoes in this. Log burning stove was another fascination. The shared kitchen with your own fridge was spotless too and the use of your own toilet with the shower was ideal. We went a short 15-20 min walk to the beach which did not disappoint either. Cockerel and hen came for a wee visit to our yurt. Purchased eggs from the hen from pippa and her son who were always around if needed. Would defo recommend this to everyone. Came home totally relaxed.

Just go there and take a deep breath!
Being so busy in the rat race it has taken me this long to write my review, so you can imagine what a welcome retreat it was to stay at the beautiful Runach Arainn! We booked all the yurts for the family in September last year. My partner and I stayed in Rosa yurt which is tucked up in the far corner, we stayed for the week while my daughters joined us in the other 2 yurts for part of our stay, a perfect setting for a family get together, as well as for my daughters ‘mini moon’ as she had just got married in Edinburgh. Pippa and Andy left a gift of their honey and a lovely card for the newlyweds which was a really nice touch. The setting is beautiful & the yurts were perfect with everything you need. The beds were comfortable, plenty of blankets & bedding.. the yurts were warm & cozy with the wood burning stoves and plenty of space & furniture to move around in and chill in different areas of the yurt. Waking up with the cockerel after a sound nights sleep away from noise & light pollution, fully immersed in nature, getting the outdoor fire going, brewing a coffee and just taking it all in before preparing a cooked breakfast to set us up for the adventures of the day. At night we had bats flying around & a toad inviting himself in for a hop around.. The cockerel and one of his ladies would visit us at breakfast time & hang out with us strutting his stuff! It really was the perfect base to return to after many explorations all over the beautiful Isle of Arran, my favourite place in the world! Tips: - Expect a bit of a drive to reach it, but in the grand scheme of things no where is too far away on the Island.. plan your days well & you can get out and back in time for tea after a fulfilling adventure! We would usually get out around 11am/midday, squeeze loads into the day and head back as the sun is going down to spend the evening by the fire with a nice bottle of red. - Bring torches! - if you are really into campfire cooking & a chef like me then bring any of your extra outdoor gear like dutch ovens, griddles, baking paper etc.. we were staying the whole week & I love an outdoor gourmet cooking challenge so it was worth bringing the extras along! I baked brownies, bread, pizza & made a lasagne :) but if you are just coming for a short stay and cooking easier foods then there is still plenty of equipment in the yurts to do so! Everything you need really & more to still make a wonderful spread, think curries, pasta, salads, fry ups, burgers, jacket potatoes (bring foil!) If wanting to use the woodburner inside for cooking (if it’s raining) then plan way ahead as they can take a bit of time to get hot enough! - the solar power is great for charging phones/satnavs etc using the USB ports… the only thing to be aware of is the lighting can get a bit flickery & strobe like at night & doesn’t last long (in Rosa yurt at least) so try to only use 1 or 2 at a time and only when you really need to, and bring some extra tealights/torches in case! But again, in the grand scheme of things, all the other yurts I have stayed in did not have solar power at all so it’s still a great addition to the set up. 10/10 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️❤️❤️

Great experience
We had a great experience at the Yurt and in Arran in general. My son loved it, his first experience of anything close to camping. We were very happy with our stay.

Very highly recommended
We really enjoyed our recent stay. The yurts are beautiful. They have everything you need and and get nice and warm once you get the stove burning (Andrew was on hand to give us some help the first time...). The setting is lovely with lots of geese and chickens waddling around. We went with our 2.5 year old and he loved it. Having your own shower and toilet is a great plus too.

Amazing time
We stayed here for 2 nights. It was amazing. Our boys had the best time and loved seeing the geese and chickens walking around. We had a lovely BBQ and even had some fried eggs from their chickens on the BBQ 👌🏻 Pippa and Andrew have thought of everything. Can’t wait to come back x

Fantastic adventure!
This was our first time staying in a yurt, and we loved it! The yurt is a thing of beauty, and Pippa and Andy have thought of everything. My 7 year old was enchanted by the old suitcase stuffed full of games and toys. There is also a well-stocked bookcase. The decor was so charming, and the beds were super-comfy. It was great fun getting the wood-burning stove going, and cooking on it. It is a slow process, but a microwave is available in the utility room, and the Lagg Inn is nearby. The private bathroom was clean with plenty of hot water and towels. We were really inspired by our trip, and we will definitely return! Here is a review by my 7 year old; " it was so much fun. The geese and chickens and cockerel were so funny and i especially liked the yurt and games and the firepit 😀😁😃😄".

Runach Arainn is a lovely glamping site and ideal for families and kids. The yurts are substantial, spacious, comfortable and well equipped with a great wood burner (all wood provided) which chucks out heat and can be cooked on. When it poured and hailstoned, we were cozy, warm and dry! It made a great base for our trip and we recommend it to all.

Great glamping experience!
A really lovely holiday in Arran. The yurts were so cosy and very well equipped. The children had a great time as we did and spent lots of time outdoors. The yurt was an inviting retreat after a day exploring the island. A great time.

Map
About the neighbourhood
The Isle of Arran is about 20 miles long and 10 miles wide and sits in the Firth of Cylde. The 10 mile ferry crossing from Ardrossan takes 50 minutes - so we are less than 2 hours from Glasgow. For such a small island Arran contains a wide variety of sceneries and landscapes. To the North is the mountainous Goat Fell range - they may look benign from Brodick, but they are anything but. If you don't fancy the high level walks there are beautiful valley walks like Glen Rosa or more wooded walks in the South of the island like the Glenashdale Falls. There are wonderful beaches all around the island - Blackwaterfoot in the West, Torrylinn in the South and Lochranza in the North.
Getting around
Kilmory is a quiet little hamlet and there are plenty of forest and beach walks available from the site. You can use your car to get around the island if you wish, but there is also a regular and reliable bus service running both ways round the island. The nearest bus stop is 5 minutes walk form the site.

How to get there
Runach Arainn is on South end of the Isle of Arran. The Isle of Arran sits in the Firth of Clyde to the West of Glasgow. It is accessed via ferry from the port of Ardrossan in North Ayrshire. For details of the ferry see Calmac Ferries The ferry berths in the port of Brodick, where you can pick up supplies in the local Co-op. We are 18 miles (35 minutes drive) from the ferry port. Follow the coast road South around the Island. As you enter the village of Kilmory you will see the Creamery on your left, take the next right turn and follow the road to the Church - Runach Arainn is just beyond the Church.
