Large finely restored luxurious 17th Century Gascony stone farmhouse.

Holiday Rental House -
4 Bedrooms , 4 Bathrooms , Sleeps 11
Marsolan, Gers, Occitanie
Casteyre is a traditional stone Gascon farmhouse which comfortably accommodates eight to ten people. It was originally built in the 17th century as three sheep folds, or 'bergeries'. It has been exquisitely transformed into a large single spacious, sun-filled four-bedroom home, all on ground level which combines the house’s rustic character with all modern comforts. The property enjoys panoramic views over the idyllic Gascon countryside. With its thick honey-coloured stone walls, it stays cool in summer, but is warm and cosy in winter.
Casteyre is situated in ten acres (four hectares) of private land on a hilltop between two sunny valleys, enjoying 360-degree views over the surrounding Gers countryside of valleys, vineyards, woods, sunflower and corn fields, farms, medieval villages, and the Pyrénées mountains. The medieval pilgri...

Interaction with guests
You will be met at the property and given the keys, and a cool glass of wine or beer whilst I show you round A welcome goodies selection of essentials in the kitchen. Butter, jam, cheese, milk, fruit juice, water, wine, beers and a basket of fruit and ofcourse fresh eggs from our hens. As the owner, I do live on part of the property, but far enough away from the gite side and gardens, for it to be totally private and secluded. There is a small animal park beside the gardens which requires me to be there. Guests do not even notice I am there! However I am available to give advice about whats on, places to visit, local restaurants and booking them, baby sitting, and preparing meals should you wish, + accompanying on various tours.

About the neighbourhood
Forget over-subscribed Provence. Many lovers of the french way have always had a soft spot for this unspoilt and beautiful region in South West France.'The Last Best Place'...a phrase that has come to epitomise the gentle rolling countryside of the Gers. Located roughly equidistant between Bordeaux and Toulouse, and south-west of Agen, it has become one of the most sought after regions of France for those seeking tranquility, tradition, gourmet cuisine and local wines, all in an exclusive environment. The proximity of the Pyrenees and the many vineyards, fields of sunflowers and famous melons, local markets, historical villages, enhance an already southern atmosphere, creating a peaceful and friendly region. A secret paradise.
Getting around
Advisable to hire a car if you do not already have one.

Bicycles can also be hired locally in Lectoure at very reasonable prices.

Local taxi firm (Esther Riu) in Lectoure is very good.
