Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.

A Slice of Heaven
We've just got home from a two week stay in The Hay Barn. This was our third stay and we fall in love with this place a little more each time. The cottages are lovely, beautifully furnished, warm and cosy with views to die for. They have everything you need to relax after a day exploring with your furry friends. The cottage gardens are fully fenced and secured, our three dogs spent hours mooching about. They loved Scentral Bark, a secure play area so much we had to bribe them with treats to get them to come out. There are so many fabulous forest and beach dog walks in the local area. Brechfa Forest is a five minute walk from the door, you can walk for miles. In the forests and on the beaches we only saw a handful of people. If you have reactive or just badly behaved dogs like ours, this is the place to bring them for a stress free holiday. The hosts Nikki and Jay are fabulous and will make you very welcome. They have created a great guide to area with lots of day friendly days out. If you're hesitating l, don't. Book yourself some time in the very special place, your dogs will love you forever.

Perfect getaway
Just come back from staying in the Old Bike Shed with our 2 fur babies. What a jewel of a find. It was so tranquil and peaceful. The scenery is outstanding with lots of local walks. The Old Bike Shed was quite cosy. Everything you need is in the accommodation. The owners are on site if you need anything and are very welcoming and approachable. Scentral Bark is available for resident dogs and they throughly enjoyed. Close to West Wales so lots of places to go in a relatively short space of time. Would highly recommend and definitely hope to use again

Sorry not sorry for the long review!
The most perfect Autumnal/pre-christmas holiday! We booked it to give our Jessie a firework free holiday and so we could celebrate our anniversary (which happens to be on bonfire night!) It was the best decision! Bay Tree Barn was perfect for the 3 of us. Comfy furniture, cosy and clean cottage, large enclosed garden with the most stunning views! The on site central bark was such a lovely addition! Jessie loved the tyre swing, a blue ball and the selection of sticks! Loved the little welcome pack for the dog with some treats to keep! The app that was sent to us prior was incredible! It literally has so much easy to read information and we found some great recommendations for places to visit! We pre ordered the frozen Cook meals. So glad we did they were delicious! Owners very friendly. So many locations to visit and has nearby local shops and cute little villages and towns. Would highly recommend staying here with your doggos Some places we visited that were amazing: - Baileys dog cafe in Carmathen - Tenby town and Tenby beach - Pembrey Country Park with Cefn Sidan beach - Dolphin boat trip/beach trip in New Quay - Steam train trip up Brecon Mountain - Aberystwyth - Barry Island (inspired by Gavin and Stacey!)

Me and the dog time!
Just the most relaxing, carefree and perfect escape for me and my beagle (Lexie), with views to die for! The old bike shed provided everything needed for a girl and her dog to enjoy the whole weekend without leaving! The local forest walks are perfect and even my old girl aged 13, had a go at the swings and slide in 'Scentral bark'. The guest app is very useful and has all the information you need for the weekend, and where you are unsure, the hosts Nikki and Jay are very quick to respond to queries. Lexie even got to meet Alfie and Dilly! Melted my heart as a beagle lover! Lovely adorable fur babies! The atmosphere is lovely and I would highly recommend to anyone who wants a get away, to clear the mind and indulge in some 'me and the dog' time.

Peaceful
We have just arrived back from Brechfa Forest Barns after a lovely relaxing short break with our 2 fur babies Marley and Bailey. The Hay barn (which we stayed in) was very inviting, comfortable and cosy place to stay. Upon arriving inside we were greeted with a complimentary doggie gift set ( which was much appreciated by the fur babies). The cottages are located literally in the middle of nowhere, but at the same time in the most idilic of areas. We will be back 😁👍

Our new happy place :) The Old Bike Shed!
My husband booked our little trip away to Brechfa Forest Barns last minute and we got an incredible deal which we found on Facebook through one of the pages / groups we follow - as we own 2 x XL Bully 'type' fur babies. After spending the last nearly 12 months feeling completely overwhelmed with the ban coming into force, adapting to the new rules and regulations, the financial impact on our little family, not to mention the anxiety felt by both myself and husband every time we leave the house with our now defined by the Government "dangerous dogs", we cannot thank Nikki, Jay, Debbie, Adrian, and not forgetting Alfie and Dilly enough, for their compassion and understanding, and above all else not discriminating against specific breeds, and allowing all fur babies regardless of breed and their hoomans to come and have an absolutely fantastic holiday at what I can only describe as such a stunning site with beautiful accommodation and spectacular scenery! The peace and tranquility felt every morning of our stay was indescribable, opening the curtains on the patio, seeing the view, knowing that we could just walk a few steps around the corner into Scentral Bark (the most amazing doggie play park for exclusive use by guests at Brechfa), without judgement, our fur babies could play, run, pick up toys and sticks, play fetch and pick up balls, grab and swing from ropes, leg it through muddy puddles, literally just be dogs, something i think probably most other dog owners take for granted - we certainly did until the ban forced them to be muzzled from when we leave the house!! So the fact that our accommodation, the very cute and cozy Old Bike Shed, was completely tailored to be not only dog friendly, but actually catered for dogs was very much appreciated! Nikki and Jay were both more than happy to answer all of our questions before our arrival and ease all of our anxieties and concerns, and put our minds at rest, that our XLs were welcome and they knew they would enjoy their stay! From the Welcome Bucket for the dogs, to the exclusive use of Scentral Bark, to the poop buckets outside etc, every little detail has been so well thought out with all types of dog in mind, and is so refreshing for people who are in similar situations to our family. Nikki and Jay are also so thoughtful, remembering that it was Drax's (one of our babas) 4th birthday whilst we were there, and wished him a Happy Birthday on social media <3 the little things leave big impressions! The little Old Bike Shed was sooooo cute and it honesly made me appreciate how much I love being close to my husband and our fur babies, spending quality time with each other, instead of the hustle and bustle of every day life, spending most of your time in separate rooms, places, working etc. And the accommodation literally has everything you need for a comfortable, relaxing, happy stay, we didn't need to ask for a single thing, but I am sure if we did, Nikki or Jay would have immediately helped :) The online guidebook/ app is so thorough and is such a useful tool to have before and during your stay and literally has everything you need to know about your stay at Brechfa from directions to the site, getting into your booked accommodation, the use of scentral bark, accessing the communal garage / utility room, recycling, manuals and instructions etc, beautiful walking routes and closest dog friendly beaches, nearby takeaways and shops to departure information. We provided our own food etc but I believe that the meals that can be pre-ordered prior to your arrival are delicious so we will probably do this next time :) We attempted a couple of the walking trails which were recommended in the guidebook, we found them incredibly easy from the links and maps in the guidebook, and the walks themselves were just beautiful and incredible scenery in and around the Brechfa Forest. We also visited one of the nearby beaches which was beautiful but abit busy and too hot unfortunately for our XLs (who obviously have to be muzzled) so we will go back the next time we book. But honestly, you do not need to leave the site if you do not wish to, it has everything you need and it was so pleasant to just sit and take in all of the nature and scenery surrounding you. I would 100% recommend Brechfa Forest Barns to any of my family and friends with doggies, and we will definitely book to go back and stay in the Old Bike Shed <3 I didn't want to leave and could have stayed there forever, and we haven't stopped talking about it since coming home! Thank you once again Nikki and Jay for such a warm welcome and furtastic stay in the Old Bike Shed! Lots of love from Kim & JP (The Hoomans) and lots of woofs and licks for Alfie and Dilly from Drax and Pepper (The Wigglebutts!) xxx See you again soon!!

Perfect for dogs and the hoomans will love it too!
Well it was about time I was allowed to write a review. My hoomans normally write these but as I’m the reason for us holidaying here for the last 9 years, I’ve taken the lead so to speak. I’m Archie the dog, as I’ve already said, we’ve been coming here for 9 years and every year has been so so relaxing. We headed straight to Llansteffan beach before we checked into Bay Tree Barn. It’s a winner for hoomans and us dogs. It’s got a great long stretch that’s dog friendly. You can run until your hearts content. We then headed to The Barns, where I had a little potter around Scentral Bark after the hoomans unpacked everything. What’s Scentral Bark I hear you say? Well it’s a completely enclosed dog park on site, just for the dogs who are staying here! It’s got so much in there to do, there’s a ball pool, a little trampoline, you can conquer tyre mountain and slide down the slide and take a trundle through the tyre tunnel. And if water is your thing, then don’t worry, you can have a splash in the purpose made dog pool. We all slept so well after the long journey. But we soon got into gear the following morning and headed to Burry Port. Another dog friendly beach (there are so many) ice cream consumed and more fun on the sand. We had a day of chilling to recharge our batteries then we went off to Cenarth Falls. It’s such a nice place to visit, there’s a lovely pathway you can follow alongside the river Teifi. It’s quite easy to navigate and it’s buggy and wheelchair friendly. We swung by Aberaeron for a bit more sea time. Llansteffan beach called the next day, we got there in time for the hoomans to have fish and chips. Got to spoil them and make them feel it’s their holiday too eh. So I got another run on the beach. I’m older now and the sand is so nice to walk/run on. So it made us all happy seeing how much I enjoyed it. It was a bit damp the following day so we headed to the local dog friendly pub, Forest Arms. It’s only 15 minutes away. It really was lovely and definitely dog friendly in there. If you want to you can stop on the way back at Keepers Walk. It’s a lovely walk where you can paddle in the beautiful clear streams (my hooman has done this every year we’ve been) We squeezed in one more visit to Llansteffan beach the following day. Because you can never have enough of a good thing. We got back and I just sat and admired the view from our personal enclosed garden. I’ll let the hooman tell you about The Barns. Bay Tree Barn is so perfect, (it’s all on one level) you’ve got everything you need, the kitchen is a perfect size and has all you need to self cater. The bathroom with a lovely shower is a great size. Both bedrooms are decorated beautifully (as is the whole place) and they’re airy and you really do get the best nights sleep there. It’s perfect, everything is set out so well. You get an electronic guide in a email form, which gives you so much to see and do. You’d struggle to fit it all in. As Archie has already explained, we’ve been coming here for many years and I’d like to think we will make it 10 years in a row in 2025. Thank you Nikki, Jay, Alfie & Dilly. You’re the very best of the best. Archie the dog, Helen & Eileen the hoomans xxx

A dog lovers jewel in the Welsh countryside…
Our second visit to this wonderful place and certainly not our last! The cottages are beautiful and equipped with everything you could need - including a Woofers Welcome Pack and a special chair “Reserved for the Dog” ❤️ Scentral Bark is an absolute god send for pets with poor recall …especially if they’re early risers like our two - I was pulled there at the crack of dawn on our last morning, as the dogs just couldn’t get enough! There’s so much to do in the surrounding area with lovely dog friendly pubs in the most beautiful surroundings. The forest walks and beaches are so tranquil and make for some very tired legs (dogs and humans). Nothing is too much trouble for the owners, who were super helpful during our stay. The digital guide book provided as a welcome pack makes everything so easy and the views from the dog friendly gardens are spectacular …particularly at sunset. There’s also a utility room with extra dog towels and a hose for washing your dogs down after the park …with plenty of DVDs for you to borrow, if you fancy a night curled up on the sofa with the log burner …guaranteed your dogs will give you plenty of peaceful evenings after the busy days they get :) …already can’t wait for our next visit 🐾 🐾

Short stay in beautiful surroundings.
We stayed in the old bike shed with our 3 year old cockerpoo. It’s compact but has everything in it you need for a short stay. Small kitchenette area if you want to cook (we just had breakfast in the accommodation and ate out the rest of the time) A great welcome package for our four legged family member and use of the ‘Scentral Bark’ doggy area at the rear of the property. Really handy online guide to local places to visit and eat meant we didn’t have to rummage through lots of leaflets. WiFi was really good and the smart TV worked a treat for the evenings. The sunsets are to die for if you get lucky with the weather.

Lovely short stay holiday
My husband and I really enjoyed our 4 night stay in the old bike shed at this dog friendly accommodation. We had a compact kitchenette area that was fully equipped . The bed was extremely comfortable, the outside space was great to sit in to watch the sunset and take in the glorious views. We had reasonably good weather and got out to various places and walks that were recommended in their very competitive digital guide with everything you needed to know from getting there to your accommodation, places to visit and eat, dog walks and departure information. Anyone wanting a quiet , relaxing holiday with their dog in West Wales should pick this place to stay !
