Ormidale House estate sits in 22 private acres surrounded by stunning scenery, on Scotland's gorgeous west coast. The Mill House at Ormidale has taken us two and a half years to restore, and was christened by its first guests as “the wow factory.” Hot tub, sauna, swimming pool and tennis court complement the high-end internal style and comfort.

With rooms on four levels, it will accommodate up to 14 adults, and up to 22 guests in total.

The main feature is the open plan 80m2 ground floor reception area which opens up from a fabulous kitchen, through the dining area with vaulted ceiling, into a generous living / lounging area with open fireplace. The dining and lounge areas feature the original exposed stone wall and light floods through a large glass archway incorporating the main house entr... Read more

As you will read from other reviews, I also stayed in this house with a group of friends in January 2017. The house itself was nice and spacious for our group, with the added bonus of a hot tub and sauna. On the second day we noticed the timetable for the indoor swimming pool stating which ‘house’ could use the...

Management response:

I also hope this review and the others from the same group helps potential renters pick their property. We don't want the sort of group who do £2,000 worth of damage and then deny it. They could have had money back if they had accepted responsibility for their actions and apologised for them. They didn't. We won't just give in...

Reviewed 1 week ago for a stay in January 2017

In January 2017 my friends and I travelled to Ormidale house to enjoy a 2 night stay to celebrate our friends’ birthday. Upon arrival, there was no one there to greet us let alone hand over the keys to let us into the property. Myself and the lead party member, after waiting about 10 minutes (hoping someone would show) went...

Management response:

This is now the 5th review published from this extremely badly behaved party, from whom we withheld the goodhousekeeping deposit as a result of them doing over £2,000 damage to the pool. We take 180 bookings every year - and we take good housekeeping deposits from about 2,500 guests every year. If we were in the habit of withholding deposits...

Stayed in the Mill House for our friend Cameron's Hen party. Firstly, the house itself is awesome. The kitchen was really well equipped for cooking for 25 people. The rooms are all super comfy, complete with a robe each, which was a lovely touch. Hot tub and sauna are great additions to the house! Best til last, the gardens! Nothing...

Two bedrooms feature raised platform beds with storage underneath. Seven bedrooms are suitable for permanent adult occupation and there are two box / bunk bedrooms in addition.

There are three stunning bathrooms, with wall to wall travertine marble walls an... more

About the neighbourhood
As well as general site-seeing and trips to the Island of Bute, Inverary and further afield, there are a host of other activities you can undertake around Glenaruel. It’s fabulous walking country and we’ve also provided twelve mountain bikes for those who want to explore on two wheels rather than four. There are some really excellent and quite varied routes direct from the house, involving all sorts of terrain and levels of strain!

Golf – there’s a lovely 9 hole pay and play course ten minutes away above Tighnabruaich. We’ve supplied five bags of golf clubs for the house and they probably won’t be too fussed about the usual rules re golf shoes provided you don’t arrive in jeans and carve the course up. The same applies to the almost equally spectacular nine hole course... more
