Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.

superb apartment, location & scenery
lovely stay in beautiful, well-appointed apartment with gorgeous views of stunning scenery - the attached photos were taken from the loch shoreline, just in front of the apartment - nearby villages provide all amenities and the scenery is spectacular all around that area

Putting the "Sun" in "Loch Sunart"
If Resipole Studios Fine Art Gallery puts the “art” in “Loch Sunart” – to which even the casual visitor must surely attest – then the Apartment at Rockpool House, Resipole, certainly adds the “Sun”. It’s not that your stay will come with any guarantee of the finest weather – heaven knows, ours didn’t – but the Apartment offers such a comfortable, light and airy environment that one can’t help but feel relaxed and inspired, regardless of any conspiracy by the elements to disrupt your holiday plans. Arranged above the owners’ double garage, the layout of the Apartment makes the very best of its location, its picture window in the seating and dining area affording a panoramic view across Loch Sunart towards the Morvern peninsula’s most northerly point – a view which constantly entertains according to the weather and whatever wildlife happens to swing by. When darkness draws a veil over the natural scene, a TV and selection of DVDs provide other entertainment options, and local guides and maps are available to help you plan tomorrow’s activities. A well-appointed kitchen offers all that anyone could require for a week or two’s stay, and you’ll find that your hosts have provided some basic items to kick-start your holiday store cupboard. The bath/shower room is similarly well-provisioned with toiletries and towels. Rounding off the accommodation is a cosy bedroom area with a large and comfortable bed, plenty of drawer space throughout and, in the entrance lobby downstairs, a decent-sized wardrobe choc-full of proper wooden coat-hangers. For the convenience of those travelling light but staying long, a washing machine tops off the list of amenities. Ardnamurchan is not a place for those seeking thrills and frenetic activity but if you enjoy all that nature has to offer you won’t be disappointed. You’ll also find a warm welcome at any of the peninsula’s eateries, hostelries and businesses, but if you’re tempted to travel farther afield – maybe a ferry crossing from Kilchoan to Tobermory on the Isle of Mull, or a shopping trip to Fort William – Rockpool House Apartment is your perfect central location. And your hosts, Steven and Lynne? They’re on hand next door to deal with any issues or questions you may have but otherwise provide a discreet yet welcoming presence. So, if you could all just find somewhere else to stay, please, we’d be much obliged, as we’d quite like first dibs on the booking diary for our return visit. Or, indeed, visits. Thank you.

Back again at beautiful Rockpool House
We promised we would return and after four years we finally made it. We were delighted. The apartment is impeccable: clean, comfortable, well-equipped, warm, a great place to come back to after a day exploring Sunart or Ardnamurchan. Steven is the ideal host, always helpful and informative but never intrusive. We plan to visit again but in the meantime we recommend Rockpool House without hesitation.

What more could you want?
We’ve visited Ardnamurchan a few times now and I have to say this was our best stay yet. The apartment is beautifully located opposite the loch and is equally beautifully equipped. My husband saw an otter swimming in the loch just off the shore which made his day/week/year :) and we saw sea eagles at beautiful Sanna. Ardtoe beach is definitely worth a visit too. The weather was particularly gorgeous but even if it had rained this place is so special you could not fail to fall in love with it. Steven and Lynne are a lovely couple and will make you feel very welcome. We will definitely return to Rockpool House and have no hesitation recommending it as a great place to stay.

Splendid place to stay!
My husband and I had an absolutely wonderful week in this apartment. The view is spectacular; the apartment well appointed with everything you could possibly need. The owners live next door so no worries if you need advice on anything; Steven and Lynn are so friendly. Steven’s photography studio is nearby, so handy for buying stunning photo gifts. Thank you, we loved it and will definitely be back!

Beautiful apartment in a stunning location!
I had a fantastic week staying here! The apartment was really comfortable, tasteful and well equipped with amazing views from the huge window and from the shore. The area is so beautiful and even though the weather wasn't brilliant I really enjoyed exploring, did some lovely walks, had a great tour of Ardnamurchan lighthouse and went to several cafes for lunch or coffee and cake. When I had a late night wild weather emergency, Steven got it sorted quickly. His stunning photography had originally inspired me to visit and explore the area. I'd love to go back and stay!

Lovely return visit
We returned for our second visit in September and are delighted to report that it was just as wonderful as our first. Even though we knew what to expect this time, we were still blown away by the loveliness of it all and had a fabulous time. The accommodation is perfect and we hope to return before to long. Thank you very much, Lynne and Steven

Lovely apartment, wonderful view
The apartment is comfortable and very well appointed. It is also in a fabulous location: right by the shore of Loch Sunart, with beautiful and ever-changing views. It is on the (very quiet) road - so no long and tricky drive to negotiate - and a couple of miles from the road junction at Salen. That means that all of the very scenic Ardnamurchan, Sunart, Morven and Moidart area is easily accessible. We had a wonderful week.

Perfect accommodation for two
We recently had a 2 week stay at Steven and Lynn's beautiful apartment. The perfect spot to explore Ardnamurchan and the other peninsulas. The apartment itself is extremely comfortable , spotlessly clean and has everything you need. The views from the window are ever changing and beautiful and you'll spot wildlife every day from varied birdlife to otters, seals and porpoise ( we took a spotting scope ) . Steven has lots if local knowledge and tips re places to visit and don't forget to visit his photography studio next door . Would highly recommend .

A Wonderful Apartment
We have used self-catering accommodation in Scotland many times over the last 30 years, but it’s no exaggeration to say that Rockpool House apartment is by far the best we have ever stayed in. It is beautifully appointed, immaculately presented and offers stunning views of Loch Sunart and Morvern beyond. Our hosts, Lynne and Steven, were very welcoming and could not have been more helpful. It’s a great place to base yourself if you wish to explore either Ardnamurchan peninsula or visit places a little further afield, though to be honest, you might struggle to drag yourself away from those views and the wildlife on your doorstep. Whilst there, it’s worth visiting Steven’s gallery, his landscape photographs of the surrounding area are amazing. We’re very much looking forward to returning to Rockpool House later in the year and doing it all again.

About the neighbourhood
From our doorstep there are numerous walks, from a quick stroll on the beach to a full day’s strenuous climb up Beinn Resipol, a Corbett and the highest peak on the Ardnamurchan peninsula. It affords spectacular views of Loch Shiel, Loch Sunart, the Small Isles and Skye on a clear day. There are opportunities for both road cycling and mountain biking in the area, from gentle short pleasure rides to long distance marathons to highly technical mountain rides. There are eleven off-road cycle routes in the Sunart Oakwoods alone, ranging in length from 3km to 64 km. Similarly, the Nevis Range and the surrounding area of Lochaber offer a wide range of mountain bike trails. There are some excellent waters for sailing, kayaking and canoeing. Sheltered freshwater and sea lochs provide ideal conditions for exploring inlets, small, inaccessible islands and getting close to coastal and aquatic wildlife. Couple these experiences with fabulous scenery and you will find it is one of the best ways to enjoy the splendours of the Highlands. There are opportunities to play golf “highland Style” at Traigh Golf Course, the most Westerly golf course on the UK mainland, which is fringed by a series of sandy beaches and offers stunning views to the Hebridean islands of Eigg and Rum, and the Cuillins of Skye. The area is blessed with an abundance of wild life and otters, seals, deer, pine martens, sea eagles and golden eagles are spotted regularly. Porpoises are often spotted in the loch near the house, whilst slightly further away, whales and dolphins can often be seen. There are a number of local artists and from April to October in all the local villages you will find produce and craft stalls. Not far from us are Resipole Studios, a contemporary art gallery with on-site artist studios, where Scottish artists develop, exhibit and promote their work.
Getting around
There is a daily bus to Fort William, that can stop just outside the hose to pick you up and drop you off. It leaves around 09:00 in the morning and returns at around 14:30 in the afternoon. However, to fully enjoy the area we do recommend that guests have use of their own car.
Access

How to get there
From the South, we can be reached by taking the A82 north to Fort William. On this journey you will cross the Ballachulish Bridge, just after Glencoe village. Four miles after the bridge, turn left and take the Corran Ferry to Ardgour. If you are travelling from the North, you should take the A82 south to Fort William and then continue on the A82. towards Glasgow. After 9 miles you will reach the Corran Ferry. Turn right, off the A82 and take the ferry to Ardgour. In either case, leave the ferry, turning left and take the A861 west towards Salen. After 21 miles, you will reach Resipole Campsite after which you will turn sharp left over a small bridge that crosses a burn. You will find us on the right, about half a mile beyond there.
