Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.

The most beautiful escape!
We have just spent a magical weekend at The Bothy. Perfectly clean and well equipped and in such a beautiful location. My children loved it and they are not easy to please 🙄🤣. We can't wait to return! Thank you so much! Emma has thought of everything.

Just Bliss
We visited the Bothy in October and it was just perfect in every way. Only a short distance from Edinburgh by car...but far enough away to feel like we were on holiday! Detailed check in instructions were sent prior to our arrival. We were surprised and delighted to find a hamper full of delicious goodies, the owners had literally thought of everything! We took full advantage of the spotlessly clean hot tub (plastic glasses provided for the all important fizz) and enjoyed nights by the fire in a cosy yet quickly setting. Just a short journey from Eyemouth Harbour where the kids were delighted to watch the Seals and dodge the waves!! We had an amazing time and made some great family memories...we felt very lucky to experience the Bothy and cannot wait to return!!

Chilled out in Coldingham
What an adorable cottage in beautiful surroundings away from all the hustle and bustle, on arrival we even spotted deer in the fields. Quality furnishings, comfy beds, spiral staircase and the log fire was delightful after a dog walk. Everything is covered by the owner as previous visitors have also commented and even a welcome crate on arrival 👏🏻. Hot tub was a great bonus. If I had anything to add it would be to bring the “wee change hut” up to the Exceptional standard of the Bothy and to add some additional lighting too. Plenty of lovely places to visit, our dog loved Coldingham Bay and our girls 12 & 14 loved all the nearby towns, Eyemouth to feed the seals and a quick go on the slot machines and North Berwick for all the shops & plentiful coffee shops (Steampunk real quirky). St ABBs Head worthy of a visit too purely for the views and a stop off at Ebbscar in the harbour for hot chocolates and sandwich. Rialto in Eyemouth did a fab Tuna /Mull cheese panini and a gorgeous flat white. We didn’t want to leave and would definitely return - thank you !

Birthday Weekend Away
What a beautiful bothy and in an idyllic setting. Our first family holiday away with our boxer, Ziggy. Emma really has thought of everything that you will need and we felt at home straight away. The hot tub was fantastic and so relaxing. We visited coldingham bay, a short drive away. The beach is so clean and has picnic benches and a cafe. Coldingham village has a lovely pub called the New Inn which welcomed our pup and has some cute shops. Close by is St Abbs Head, the 2 hour walk is worth the views and leads to St Abbs village which part of the Avengers film was filmed, we stopped for something to eat and had a little walk around the harbour. We would definitely love to go back to Whitfield Bothy and would recommend it for couples, a family of 4 and if you have a dog.

Perfect relaxation
All reviews are full of praise for this cottage and they are all correct. Beautifully decorated and well stocked. Hot tub an extra added luxury. Not far from the bay or Eyemouth but we loved just spending a day in the cottage listening to the birds. Came away feeling totally relaxed. Perfect cottage plus additionally perfect weather, we were very lucky. Emma even replied to my wife’s request of what colour paint they had used (thanks Emma, another decorating project now under way!!). Very highly recommended.

Peaceful Retreat
Stunning cottage in a peaceful setting. Although a bit more isolated than we’d usually choose for our weekend breaks we enjoyed the location of this cottage a short distance from both Eyemouth and Coldingham. We enjoyed lovely local walks around both including St Abbs and the coastal scenery was even more stunning in the sunshine. The cottage was very comfortable for the two of us and the thoughtful owner had left some lovely fresh wild flowers for us to enjoy with a good welcome pack including wine & chocolates.

Amazing
Just returned from a fantastic weekend at this place, I couldn’t fault a single thing, ideal peaceful location, the weather was perfect, the cottage was spotless and had everything we needed, hot tub was spot on, perfect place to go and chill. Emailed Emma with any questions I had and nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely be booking here again in the future. Highly recommended.
