Carr Cottage really is a hidden gem! Very clean, cosy and well equipped with everything you could wish for. A real home from home with all of the facilities that the owner provides - she really has thought of everything. Within walking distance of Whaley Bridge town centre and railway station - perfect for exploring further afield. We wouldn't hesitate...

We (my gf and I 27 and 28) stayed for three nights over New Years. The cottage is beautiful - much bigger, more airy and lighter than the photos indicate. We had a very enjoyable stay at Carr Cottage. The lemon drizzle cake and milk were very welcome when we arrived late at night! The cottage has low beams which my son in law hit his head on a few times but that is part of the character of the property!!! The driveway is accessible fairly easily but we were...

About the neighbourhood
The house is located a short walk from all amenities. Within ten minutes there are numerous traditional pubs (CAMRA listed),Italian and Indian restaurants, takeaways,a supermarket,post office and other independent shops. The train station serves Buxton and Manchester late into the evening.

Short walks can be taken from the house into the surrounding countryside, with beautiful views over the town, the Goyt Valley, Taxal Edge. The local cricket pitch must have the best views in Derbyshire!

The Goyt Valley,its reservoirs and surrounding hills offer fantastic walks of varying lengths, from level graded paths to full-day hikes over the high moorland, perhaps to the famous Cat and Fiddle Pub.

A short distance by car is the best of the Peak District's scenery,with Kinder Scout,Mam Tor and...

From the North via the A6, via Hazel Grove and Disley

There is also a mailine railway station wih regular connections from Manchester that take just 40 minutes (and onward service through to Buxton)
