Cozumel offers many options to its visitors, but nothing compared to this private residence already famous among the islanders for its façade, distinctive decoration and its main gate with mirrors that originated its popular name of “La Casa de los Espejos” or “The House of Mirrors”. Located right downtown, only 200 yards from the sea, it allows you to experience the way natives live, the real mexican cuisine and the music and sounds that permeate the atmosphere every day and night.
The house was built in 1989 by Brazilian architect Douglas Cerqueira Gonçalves, who lived on the island for a few years and actually in the house while building it, having therefore the time to detail everything to a “state of the art” level. 100% satisfied, would definitely recommend this one
House is beautiful, owner Marco very helpfull and friendly, we brought our dog and had no problems. This house is amazing, art work, spacias, restfull, we love to explore but could'nt wait to get back to the house. We have done lots of rentals and would rate this one best.

An oasis in downtown Cozumel!
We stayed in the House of mirrors for a week over the Holidays... We were a group of 7 and had ample space for everyone to relax and enjoy their stay. The house was wonderful! It is very well designed with lots of light comming in. The garden is marvelous! We spent a lot of time there swimming, relaxing, reading, laughing.... We also did different activities in Cozumel.. Marco was very helpful in organzing everything for us... He is a jewl!
We also enjoyed living amongst the local people... We even got to participate in their New Year's celebrations!
We will keep wonderfull memories from our stay in the house of mirrors!! Thanks Marco!

Service impeccable. Nous apprécions l'architecture, le jardin, piscine et le plus important l'acceuil de Marco qui n'hésite pas a nous donner les bonnes adresses et les informations les plus utiles afin d'apprécier ce que l'île a de plus beau à offrir.
La Villa est situé près de marchés d'alimentations, à quelques pas de très bons restaurants, boutiques, du ferry qui nous emmène a Playa D'el Carmen en 45 minutes. Je suggère la location d'un véhicule pour visiter l'île et ses magnifiques plages. Paradis de la plongée sous-marine. La durée de notre location est d'un mois et sincèrement, le temps passe trop rapidement.

Romantic. Beautiful garden with wonderful plants. Birds singing in the morning. Son shining .
Wonderful swimming pool . Felt like in Paradise.
The house modern and comfortable. Beautiful kitchen. Good music!!!
Gardner keeping the garden clean and neat.
The pool cleaned three times a week.
The cleaning lady changing beds twice a week and keeping the house clean.
Owner very nice and helpful!!! Wonderful guy!!!
We shall return with friends. Loved our 3 weeks stay. Sorry to leave!!!

Felt like home!
We were in Cozumel for 5 weeks, the entire family from mid-Feb to end of March 2015, we had a great time. The house is well located, downtown Cozumel, lots of restaurants, accommodations, groceries, stores of all kind and "tortillería" in walking distance. Marco is a great host, very helpful with all aspects of Cozumel from cooking experience to best beaches! The house is very confortable with all you need for cooking, hamacs, sheets, washing machine, beautiful garden (really nice and rare plants) and a great pool! We highly recommend it.

Quit Incredible! Best stay of all in Cozumel
This house is really a treat in every way. The rooms are filled with light and air with gardens in view out each window.
We spend a week here with a marvelous host named Marco.
Not only was the house well equipped with every thing we needed it also offered a feel of serenity not found often in a renal home.
The pool is completely private...no need for a swimming suit!
We enjoyed the terrace just outside each bedroom. Each room had its own bathroom also.
There are 2 bedroom in the main house with the 3rd bedroom offered in a small cottage located on the other side of the pool.
The cottage gives a couple or individual real privacy and is just lovely.
Marco is such a unique person offering his guest kindness and a real concern for your happiness. He is articulate, well traveled, well read, spirited with zeal for living. One could not find a better friend. He has a real sense of what a traveler needs for a perfect stay.
Easy walk to several restaurants and just 2 blocks for the water, very safe feel to this neighborhood also.
I for one will come back!
I would not hesitate to recommend this home to any one, even those with the most discerning taste and experience.

My family and I had a great time at Marco's "one of a kind" home!
My family of 5 stayed at The House of Mirrors June 10, 2015 for 3 nights. It was an excellent stay and Marco was a wonderful host. When we arrived in Cozumel he was at the house waiting for us and showed us around and answered questions. He recommended several wonderful places to eat both tasty and economical. We visited several of them and they were indeed wonderful and helped to make our stay memorable. Marco also suggested some places for us to go snorkeling and around town. Marco even helped us coordinate our departure via ferry as the day was very rainy and helped me make a reservation over the phone. The house and grounds are very beautiful and unique, I am so glad to have stayed here. Two very spacious bedrooms on the 2nd floor with plenty of storage and balconies each with there own bathroom and a bungalow with its own bathroom. The pool and outdoor shower is also beautiful and such a nice addition to our stay. This house is a great value and is within walking distance to the town square. Hope to see you again Marco and thanks!

Here's what I DON'T WANT YOU TO KNOW about House of Mirrors!!!!
If I tell the truth about this property, it will be so booked that I'll never be able to come back! So here's what I don't want you to know:
1. The property is as gorgeous (and then some) as it seems in the photo.
2. The owner Marco is a gracious and generous host.
3. The pool is delicious... not heated? who cares? It's HOT there!!!
4. The artwork throughout the grounds (and in the house) is fascinating.
5. The house itself is lovely. Interesting architecture!!
6. The location is phenomenal! Yes, we rented a car, but hardly used it. From the house, we could easily walk anywhere in the downtown area.
7. The grounds are very private... the only visitors were friendly, papaya-eating turtles.
8. There's a lot to do on Cozumel, but if you never leave the property, that's a great, peaceful vacation, too!
9. Did I mention the hammocks, that make you feel like you're floating?
10. The property (grounds and house) are immaculate and inviting.
So you see, if I tell you all that, you're going to want to make a reservation and stay at House of Mirrors. And if everyone does that, how will we be able to come back (which we most certainly want to do!!!)????

What a comfortable week we had!
I visit Cozumel at least once a year, and I generally stay at a different place each time I come. Next year, I'll be back to The House of Mirrors, and let Marco take care of my group. First, Marco was the most gracious host: he greeted us upon arrival, showed us his fabulous artwork, gave us the grand tour of the house, gave us great recommendations on restaurants, and shared his cell phone in case we needed him. The house itself is perfect if you are a diver, and would rather spend your money on a private oasis four blocks from the heart of downtown than on a view of the Caribbean and a long drive to town. For us, the decision was easy: since we spent all morning diving, we had had enough of the ocean, so we enjoyed a private pool, spacious house and gardens, total privacy, and his complementary wine, fruit, and juices. There are about 20 restaurants in easy walking distance. Try Casa Denis and ask for Martin! During our seven day stay, they cleaned the house 3 times, and the pool and gardens at least 5. Thanks, Marco for a delightful time!

Perfect Vacation Home!
This place was perfect for the 6 of us that traveled over to the island. My wife and I stayed in the separate cottage, for a little more privacy, and the others were in the main house. Although we were separated from the main house, we never missed a beat as we always met up at the pool in the beautiful garden courtyard. It is within walking distance from the ferry plaza and with the walk to the house you easily find your bearings to all the different amenities that are close by in the neighborhood but far enough for some privacy. In fact once you close the front gate,you feel the total privacy within the grounds. Everything is within walking distance even the Mega Mart but I would suggest taking one of the taxi's back with your goods.
The owner Marco is very helpful in giving suggestions on restaurants, activities and attractions. We only stayed a short time but when we come back this will be on the top of the list to return to.
